Joe Mauer leads Minnesota Twins to 20-1 rout of White Sox

Full story: TwinCities.com

Maybe Joe Mauer batting second isn't such a bad idea, after all. The Minnesota Twins, receiving the worst production in the major leagues in the spot directly ahead of their best hitters, tried to "just mix things up a little bit," manager Ron Gardenhire said, by putting Mauer in that spot.

Talk about a thorough CURB-STOMPING! Wow! Let's just hope the slaughter continues this weekend against the Fat, Ugly, Sausage Lovin' Sconnies.

FYI, most of the Brewers' players do not live in Wisconsin. Additionally, comments like yours usually reflect a need for someone like yourself to express your personal problems and the hatred you have toward yourself on an anonymous forum like this. Good luck dealing with it. Go Twins!

The Twins needed to take out some frustration. They have the bats, and Blackburn has become the Twins most consistent starter. It's a perfect way to come home.

The Twins can gain ground at home but they will be playing against two very tough teams. Twins pitching will be put to the test against Milwaukee and Boston.

Agreed but if the starters don't produce some quality starts in those series, going to the bullpen early scares the heck out of me. I hope they get to it and play ball the way I know they can. Go Twins!

I would ride out the good vibe on Mauer hitting at the #2 spot for a while. It seems that the middle infielders are not going to generate much offense (except Harris) so hit them down in the bottom of the order and let them play great defense. C'mon, many MLB teams live with that trade off. Also, Blackburn thank you, thankd you, thank you for a good outing! The staff needed that so badly!!

Don't take it personally WI Bald Eagle. I do realize most, if not all Brewers players do not hail from Wisconsin. I was merely suggesting the type of person that is actually a fan of theirs. I myself have plenty of relatives in NW Wisconsin. Please forgive me as I was a little fired up after a long deserved win. My comments were made in jest. I have no ill will towards Wisconsonites(except maybe Packer fans). Furthermore, a healthy rivalry between both the players and the fans, depends on the success of BOTH teams. I think there is a mutual respect coming from both sides of the St. Croix.

Now back to the subject at hand. Hopefully the Twins can take advantage of playing at home, and continue swinging some hot bats. Also, I hope the rest of the Twins rotation can feed off of Blackburn's start, and use it as motivation in future outings. Go Twins! Can't wait until 2010!

Why did the Twins just produce enough offense for two weeks in one game?

Sorry I got a little heated myself. I've been a Twins fan since they arrived in MN from Washington. It gets frustrating sometimes and the 6 game losing streak after sweeping the Tigers kinda pissed me off. So like you said, back to the point, let's hope the starting pitching can go quality starts and the lineup can keep their eyes on the ball as it come to the bat and maybe the win today will help get their confidence back. It's a long season but it's time to step it up a notch.
