Mets' run ends at 10 as ineffective Maine loses

Full story: Newsday

The Mets could easily afford to shrug off Friday night's 5-2 loss to the Reds, even though it stopped their 10-game winning streak and knocked them out of a first-place tie in the NL East pending the Phillies ' ...

Uuuuhhhh OOOOhhhhh. Look who is out of first place already.
This is sad.
I wanted the NY MELTS to be in first place all the way up to the last day of the season... like last year. The came the Historic Collapse of 2007.
If the NY MESS are out of it before the end of the season it just won't be as much fun as watching them Choke like last year.

Can't win 'em all!
Maine will be fine. He's just going through a little slump which happens to a lot of players.

I think Maine is a head case ,he needs to stop trying to hit corners and throw strikes .His fast ball looks like a 2 seamer that sails ,he needs to throw a 4 seamer and not over throw it. The new pitching coach better teach all the Met pitchers how to throw a real curve ball ? We saw last nigh Arroyo had these guys ducking every time he threw his curve ball. That was always a set up pitch from day one but only Santana and Martinez throw it .Met pitchers seem to think by throwing at the corners they can get the batter off stride but we see when the catchers call for the ball up a bit the batter goes after it .Now thats the perfect time to throw a curve because he saw the fast ball up ,he'll think the next one will be down in the strike zone .Maine better get back to throwing stikes before they demote him to the minors to get his act together .Omar better get that phone working for an outfielder and a starting pitcher or the other contenders will bury them. They have already made some moves and from what the latest news is they have lined up a bigger deal involving more then 6 players .Wake up Omar & Freddie boy or this will be "dejavo all over again" (2007)

Well all good things must come to an end. Bronson arroyo lived up to being the Mets killer. 8 innings, 2 runs, 95 pitches. I'm surprised Dusty didn't let pitch the ninth, he was that good. As for Maine, I don't like what I'm seeing. Too many pitches, too many walks, can't even go past 5. Something is wrong mechanically or maybe mentally. I listened to him on last night's SNY Sportswire telecast. He said, this ballpark's a joke. No Johnny boy, it's not the ballpark. you're the joke. No ballpark is going to translate into wins if you keep walking 4-5 every game & can't get through 5 innings. Lame like Johan saying because Shea was shut down due to the BJ concert. No excuses. start pitching better. put up or shut up. hopefully Ollie can pitch 7 innings & give the pen a much needed break. Sunday's matchup is a classic. The red hot Pelfrey against the kid Edison Volquez. Could be one of those 1-0, 2-1 pitchers duels. Let's see what happens. Got to get back on the winning track before heading home to face the Phils & Cards starting Tuesday night. LETS GO METS!!!

Hey Todd-how are ya?
Congrats on a good run-10 wins is a great streak and isn't done often in these times.
Enjoy the weekend-plenty of baseball yet to be played!
BTW-I wouldn't get too upset with Maine if I were you or any other fan. He's in one of those funks that most every player goes into at some point during a season! He's quality and will do fine!
