Gloomy. That is how I describe the managerial atmosphere of Eric Wedge since he arrived -- underachieving and gloomy. Time to send him away, along with David Dellucci.

Please notice Kansas City, that's right Kansas City, is creeping-up on Cleveland.

The Fat Lady is tuning up! Dismal performances to be expected with many on the DL, although those guys weren't doing much either. Something has to be done about the year to year inconsistency of this team amd organization.

Please trade CC. Trade Byrd.
Let's get some prospects.
I don't blame Wedgie. Are his jaws to tight? Yes!
Do other players in the league not want to play for him. Yes.
Does he worry to much about respecting the game? Yes.
But is this year his fault? No.
He should play Marte but I'm sure he doesn't like him and only has him on the roster because Shap made him.

Last place - ahh the good ole days are back! The Cheap_A$$ dolans (to quote a famous american) will ensure we stay there as they continue to tell people "you have to attend before we spend money" , yeah that strategy is working. I will admit it is amazing we contend in odd years and stink it up in even years. Willie Randolph is available and I'm sure we could get him on the cheap.

The Dolan's are the worst excuse for owners known to major leaguedom. The problems this year were more than obvious over the winter. How can your possibly keep Blake, Delucci, Michaels, and Marte on the roster and make mention that we can win with what we have.

Now we are looking to trade CC for prospects. Over the winter, we could have actually gotten proven players. This franchise is a king size joke.

That probably wasn't so; the Twins got prospects for Santana. The problem is, that at the Santans/Sabathia contract stratosphere, there are only a few teams who can do that deal which reduces the options of who the Indians could trade with. That team or teams won't pay it AND give up proven players(ie MLB roster, or their MLB-ready prospects)if they have any sense. A trade for CC will be constrained by those factors.
The wild card is some team losing their mind for other reasons (see Cubs, Chicago) and doing a dumb deal to the Indians benefit. Even then it depends on what they have to offer.

Browns start in less than a month! Hard to win when you consistently score three runs or less. Plus losing Hafner, Martinez, Carmona and Westbrook hurt as well. They are still less than 10 games out. I wish MLB would either get rid of the DH or keep it for both leagues. If they get rid of it, alot of players would be out on the street selling hot dogs, because the only glove they own is a golf glove!

You can't blame Wedge. If anything, I'd say this ball club overachieved last year, and now everyone has too high of expectations for them.

Wedge had little more to work with than a bunch of minor league prospects and one proven pitcher. The prospects developed well, and we now have a lot of good ball players that were no-name triple A players a short while ago.

So the Indians organization obviously developed these guys well, but I also feel we got lucky in a lot of ways. Now we're playing closer to what we all would have expected if we had judged the 2008 season by our roster a few years ago, instead of post the ALCS, when everyone started drinking Shapiro's Kool Aid.

The Indians of the 90s were good because they were committed to being competitive. The Indians of today are committed to saving payroll, and making others responsible for doing what they can with the cheap talent we can find.

And Dolan still has no idea why the team with the record of consecutive sold-out games, set just a few years ago, can't sell out a game.

Wedge pinch hit Delucci (strike out, what a shocker)for Guiterrez last nite? Are you kidding me?

I agree you can't blame Wedge for the performance of the AAA lineup he has, but he is not a very good bench Manager (although you don't have to manage much in the AL). It seems (and I know little of managing although I played at the college level) he does everything by the book (besides bunting) and has no "feel" for the game. But as I said, I'm not putting this year solely on him.

Keep in mind CC is signed through this year so a team that believes it is in contention can get him for the balance of the season for a pennant run and not re sign him either.

Another loss tonight and CC may not ever leave their next stop..The Dodgers

The Dolans who are on top do not want to spend money to make this a competitive team year in, and year out. It's starts with them and works it's way down. The bottom line is as long as the Dolans are frugal cheap_A$$es, this team will never win a championship.
Agreed. Jacobs didn't run the team this way. As much as I want the Indians to win, I don't see a championship coming under Dolan. Last season is probably the closest we'll get.

A team could do that, but that type deal is going extinct. The Newsday writer brought up several stinkers in the Yankee's past. For a half-year rental, does the new team give up good proven guys? No, it creates holes. Do they give up MLB ready prospects whose cost they control for several years? Not if they are rational; a half year of CC isn't worth multiple low cost years of multiple guys. Either way, the deal falls back to prospects who are farther from the bigs, meaning the risk falls on Cleveland to evaluate them. My reference to the Cubs is to a situation where a team might do a half season deal helps the Tribe. Remember the situation of Montreal and Colon? They THOUGHT they were in contention (they really weren't) they knew they were in deep crap and moving, MLB had taken ownership, and thay got soaked by Shapiro.

It's a sad time right now for Indian fans. Our offense is so nonexistent that it seems like the only way to get on base is not to move when the ball is inside.Garko is getting to be a master at playing mannequin on an inside pitch just to reach first. We've left too many men on base, have way too many injuries and I think that the party is over. It's sad.

Keep reminding yourselves that trading requires at least two. Who will trade for Byrd? What would you give for him? As for CC, no one is going to make a move until after the AS Break. Teams will look at his contract demands and either move to sign him or figure him as a late-season rental who will move to highest bidder after the season. In either case, how much does a team give up for him? Brace yourself, the best the Indians will get will be two AAA prospects, maybe a throw-in of an aging veteran with a season or two (a la Trot Nixon) left in him.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Sagittarius

Mercury turning retrograde in your house of finances carries a rather unseasonal message, because it's telling you to pay attention to your finances over the next few weeks. If you already know that you've overspent this month, you won't need to be told that a few economies are just around the corner. Get the facts straight and pay attention to the small print. You may also have to make some adjustments to an intimate relationship so it can move into another phase.
