Full story: Akron Beacon Journal

CLEVELAND: Now that seemingly half the team is on the disabled list, maybe the Indians can catch fire and go on a winning streak.

The Division is winnable. Ironically, with all the injuries, they are showing character. A little more talent would help. Let us see what they do over the next 7 or 8 games before we start talking seriously about winning after all.

Just think what this lineup could do in the International League - I'm betting we would be in at least 2nd place!

Happy to see Wedgie retaliate for at least one of the many hit-batsmen. The team needed him last night after the news about Victor and I think he came through.
It's going to be a bumpy ride for a while.

Yeah and we will take that to heart just like your projected continued collapse of Cliff Lee in his last start. I see your lobotomy worked.

My thoughts exactly regarding the team showing character Joe. Sometimes a dose of adversity is what the doctor ordered. No more waiting on the next guy to step up you have counted on the last couple of years coupled with "this is my chance to play and I better make the most of it"

Amazing how some so called fans are so hateful of our players and seem to think all the other teams have stars at every position.

If this team can stay close until Carmona, Victor and Hafner return we can win this division. Our rotation with CC, Lee and Laffey is still better than most and teams like Detroit can not match those guys.

Thank god Krishna we have Eric Wedge to lead us. These players never quit and always give their all for him. No manager in baseball is more respected and loved by his players.

We need Byrd and Sowers to give us a chance to win in at least half their starts. We need all the guys that were slumping to make up for it the rest of the year and the new guys, Ben and Choo to keep doing what they ahve been doing. Carrol hit 300 as a starter 2 years ago and is a true professional, he will give us as much at second as Asbrundal or Barfield did last year.

Choo has been a nice shot in the arm and Laffey is doing a real nice job. Carroll is surprising me a bit as I didn't think he was any more than a role player. Hope he doesn't wear down. It's nice to beat up on a pitcher who we should take advantage of, but with so many injuries, the Tribe is really going to have to play well and get a bunch of good bounces to stay in the race. Nice to see the bench get it done and yes it was great to see wedge getting into it with Gardenhire.

I still can't believe this team is sinking or swimming with pitching....

An amazing turnaround from the 90's.....

Another spark of life...and a little interleague matchup for the weekend. I dunno, maybe the Tribe can find the chemistry to get some momentum going.

The '08 team is starting to remind me of the '05 team, with better starters. Production coming from unexpected places, blossoming players, collective chemistry superceding All-Star status. nobody running away with it so they might as well go out and grab it.

Good win last night. Unlike other games this year, the Indians did not let up and kept the pressure on the pitchers all game long. I like that the young players are showing a sense of urgency and are really taking advantage of their opportunities to play. If we can get on a roll here and start winning some series, we'll be in good shape by the All-Star break.(Detroit: Thanks for the sweep!)

It is really difficult to believe a lineup like the Indians' of last night could actually produce 18 hits against the Twins, but they obviously did. At lease some of the reason for it has to be the fact that the lineup didn't contain a number of players who were in it merely because of big reputations from previous seasons. They are primarily younger players who are playing hard and making the most of an opportunity. Let's hope it's not a one-time thing. We should know very soon.

Perhaps the clubhouse approach is no longer...just wait till Travis and Victor get going...we'll be great then to one of...hey...we gotta get to work and do this.

If these guys get going and then you bring back Travis and Victor to a team that is playing well...then...look out!
