Think Wedge & Shapiro will ever get the message: the most-effective relievers they have are their own home-grown kids. Mastny, Cabrera & Davis have been lights out this season. So why does Wedge waste his leads with Fultz, Hernandez & Borowski?
This whole "you pitch one inning only" business is gonna kill the team, mark my words. What? Relievers can't pitch TWO innings anymore? C'MON!! When Mastny strikes out the side 1-2-3, you leave him in for the 8th. You don't bring in inconsistent, unreliable, mediocre guys. Wedge will cost us so many games with his hideous misuse of the bullpen. |

This is a game The Tribe would have figured a way to lose last year. It is great to see them figure a way to win despite all of their shortcomings.
If CC wants ace of the staff pay, he needs to perform like one. Only one game so let's overlook this outing. Cabrera looks like a legitimate closer candidate. He has closer stuff. Does he have the head for it? Move Peralta to the 2 hole! |

This was a very good win for The Tribe regardless of their shortcomings. This was a game they would have figured a way to lose last year.
Iff CC wants to be the ace of the staff and be paid like it after next year, he needs to perform that way. We will cut him slack for now. Cabrera looks like closer material with great hard throwing stuff. Does he have the head for it? Peralta to the 2 hole Wedgie!! |

Fultz has done a great job so far, and Borowski is now 8 for 9 in save chances...I'd say our bullpen has been better than advertised to this point, right?
Good win, and in the end, that's all that matters...the win. |

I wonder if the Yankees will ever get the message that the most effective players they have ARE ALMOST NEVER their home-grown kids. Farm systems are the way to go. High priced free agents rarely make an impact compared to home grown kids AND their price tags destroy the game.

I agree. I wouldn't even have a closer if I was a manager. I would either go with matchups or stick with someone if they are on. |

Sheldon-- Nobody reported on the bigger story of the day... Somebody at the Jake really should be fired over this one...
So I went to the Cavs game lastnight. Sloppy play, but the Cavs pull out a victory and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. I walk out of the Q with thousands of other Cavs fans, all of us riled up over the victory. To my surprise, the Indians are still playing! Its extra innings they yell! The score is tied! How exciting, it could be two Cleveland sports wins in one night! I walk over to the gates of the Jake, surrounded by my fellow Cleveland sports fans. Hoping to catch a glimpse of the end of the Indians game, we try to prop ourselves up on the fence, get as close as we can. Then something happened, that I do not think I will ever be able to understand. As the crowd gathered, some daring fans actually attempted to enter the stadium!(sarcasm) Of course, they were turned away by the guards at the gate who were "just following orders." Why? This just does not make sense. Whatever the paid attendance for this game, there could not have been 5,000 people in the stands by this time. Why would you not let all these late inning fans in? Let them cheer on the team? Buy some late night hot dogs (I did see one fan trying to buy one through the fence by the way). There must have been as many people standing outside the gates as there were in the stadium. This was an occasion where a little common sense would have gone a long way. Wouldn't the Tribe enjoy a little attention in this Lebron-crazed town? Why not get Grady and the gang back on all these sports fans' radars? Cleveland fans deserve more from their sports teams. Don't even get me started on the Damian Miller bobble-head doll I got at the Cavs "fan appreciation night" or the time my friend nearly got booted from a Browns game for wearing a "F*** Michigan" t-shirt in the front row of the Dawg Pound. |

Jonathon,
Considering Dolan owns this team, the fact that they wouldn't let anyone in at that time sounds about right. In fact, I'm surprised the guards didn't pepper spray the crowd, tie everyone up, and take everyone's wallets and purses. |
