7.06 ERA wow, he'll fit right in with this O's staff. Will wind in the bullpen with those numbers

DO SOMETHING... ANYTHING.... PLEASE
Please tell me that Rodrigo Lopez is NOT coming back, or is that the blockbuster we've been waiting on?
Too bad Sydney Ponson is already signed. Or is he...? Go get him Andy!

2-6 with a 7.09 ERA 2007 14-18 with a 5.98 ERA Career
Nothing but the best for the Orioles! 2008 will be the worst year ever for this franchise.
McPhail hasn't done anything different than most of the GM's before him. Get bad players to come to Baltimore.

Dear Andy McPhail,
I would love to play for the Orioles. I played Semi Pro ball in the 90's, I have a pretty good knuckle ball, and I still run pretty well, even at 43.(I can play CF) I don't take Steroids, but I'd be willing to learn if that's what it takes. OK, Call Me. Ted

Well the doomsayers are out! Let's look up their posts about Guthrie's signing from last spring. This isn't signing Santana but it won't raise ticket prices either. Signing guys like Cormier is like prospecting - hoping to find a nugget here or there. No big deal. It's really up to PC Rick Kranitz can polish up some rough stones this season. Some with Trembley - I'm all for giving these two guys, plus McPhail a chance before bashing every move they make.

jeez, you guys are really dumb. obviously, we aren't going to be good this year. we knew that already. here is a signing that gives depth to a pitching staff that last season was lacking depth. but let's all go overboard with this.

No, realists.

Cormier's signing is a "move that will add depth to a potentially thin starting staff"...Say what? A "pitcher" who was 2-6 with a 7.09 ERA last year, and a career record of 14-18 with a 5.98 ERA adds depth? Says a lot about the Orioles and the pitching staff doesn't it? The biggest joke of all is that this pathetic excuse for a "pitcher" is getting $450.000. This had to have been a Peter Angelos move. The Orioles are a JOKE, except for has-been lousy players who have no other place to play because all the other teams have owners with baseball intelligence.

Lance Cormier fits right in with the Peter Angelos plan...Steve Kline, Danys Baez, Victor Zambrano, Jaret Wright, etc. Wouldn't surprise me if the idiot owner signs Jose Mesa now.Cheer up Orioles fans, they are slowly building a winner 35 miles south in DC, where they have an owner who has baseball smarts unlike Asbestos Angelos.

Nice job MacPhail, aside from trading Tejada, what the hell have you done? Nothing except sign this crap player and the trade talk about Brian Roberts has died, who I actually do want to stay but trading him would at least bring good players to Baltimore.

O's signings year after year are becoming increasingly less attractive as far as free agents are concerned.

Now, now, now. Cormier's 2-6 record was with Atlanta, a good major league team. Cormier was signed to a minor league contract. He should be good for a 10-10 record at Norfolk.

*****Cormier went 2-6 with a 7.09 ERA in 10 games with the Braves last season. He was removed from Atlanta's 40-man roster in early December to make room for Tom Glavine and released less than a week later. Cormier, 27, has a career record of 14-18 with a 5.98 ERA. He broke into the majors in 2004 with the Arizona Diamondbacks as a starter but had his best season in 2005 as a reliever, going 7-3 in 67 games.***
Damn, the Red Sox and Yanks must be really nervous now.
