I would have let Pedro have another start for the Iron Pigs. He's yet to prove he pitch more than 80 pitches/game.
Jamie Moyer has had a great career, and I'm not ready to say he's done yet (as the Mariners did 3 years ago), but it's obvious that Moyer is in a down slump right now and, with another quality arm available, this is probably the right decision.
I suspect we won't see much of Moyer from the bullpen, and if Pedro shows he belongs, Moyer will be allowed to retire as a Phillie or will be quietly released. There's just no reason to suspect Moyer will pitch well out of the bullpen.

It's the right decision at the right time. I love Moyer, but he just wasn't getting the job done.

Martinez had a 5.11 ERA in his rehab starts and a 5.61 ERA in 20 starts for the Mets last year. I wonder if he is really ready to start in MLB. We will find out Wednesday.

Watched the game tonight..., in hopes of catching one last game out of Pedro before he goes down for the final count. Not the same Pedro who pitched in '99 for the Sox, but did okay for an old man beyond his prime.
While watching the game on ESPN, I saw the play where a Cub fan threw his beer + cup on the Phillies center fielder, while making a catch deep to the ivy wall.
NOTE: Security threw out the wrong guy! It didn't initially look right when I saw it, so I backed up the HD DVR to watch it gain in slow-mo on the 70" big screen, and for $hit-sure, the black security guy had the right drunk picked out of the front row lineup (sitting 3-4 seats down from the poor bastard), but was led astray when the real culprit fingered the wrong putz making all the noise, hanging over the wall. Thus, the wrong guy was man-handled at the end of the aisle and tossed for the game and maybe for life (as stated on ESPN). Too funny! The wrong guy was pinned for something he had nothing to do with, while the real culprit, the snake as he was, was sitting there quietly laughing to himself and the people next to him. My boss, who is from Chi-town will love this one tomorrow; as bad of a miserable mood he'll be in. Too funny!

the CUBS are DONE! and this is from a CUBS fan. this team will NOT make the playoffs! ---------- if they do NOT make the playoffs, then "HEADS SHOULD ROLL'!
ALL that money they spent & between the "underachievers" & the injuries, this season has been "heartbreaking" !
the CUBS MUST take almost "every" game from the lower teams or its "lights out"!
on the lighter side: COLLEGE FOOTBALL is coming & so are the "IRISH'
