The Dodgers' James Loney helped L.A. draw first blood with his solo home run in the second inning, but he and his teammates fell to the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Thursday at Dodger Stadium.

Baseball basics: Pitching, pitching, pitching, great defense and timely hitting. Best two clubs in baseball right now are the Angels and the Yankees. Watching their playoffs will be akin to watching the World Series. I do see an American League team winning the overall championship this year.
