When you gonna move into the 21st century?
I think that the Red Sox are the best and most consistent team over the last 10 years. Even if your scummy yankees buy another major league star... Offense isn't their problem... Open your eyes dont be blinded by the 26 20th century world series rings... that is long gone It's time to play in the new century where the Red Sox have won the most world series. With the development of Lester and next year with Becket getting healthy and with Matsuzaka entering another year and becoming more comfortable, with Pap closing down the 9th. The Sox are just missing some minor ingredients to become WS champ again....

I disagree about the catching being the top priority for a couple of reasons - you won't find anyone better behind the plate than Tek, just listen to the guys that throw to him. He had a very subpar year batting but remember, something that not many are thinking about - this guy is going through what sounds like a nasty separation/divorce. Who wouldn't have a bad time at the plate with all that crap in your head no matter how hard you tried to leave it at home? What quality catcher is out there to be had without mortgaging the future? Nope, I'm more concerned with the bullpen. Lopez has to go, Timlin should retire, Delcarmen, as much as I admire the kid & his velocity, scares me sometimes & you can't bring Oki in if there is anyone on base.

Varitek had a better 2nd half. I would sign him for 2 years max. He knows how to handle pitchers and has been part of 4 no-hitters.
Tex is a good player but if it takes trading Lowell, Youk or Ortiz to make room for him to play, I'm not sure. Who else is available in free agency?

We have nowhere for Texieria to play. Youk is the 1b when Lowell comes back. Kotsay is a great backup at either 1b or OF and can give you a little pop off the bat. Unless you can trade Lowell, put Youk at 3rd and re-sign Kotsay as a platoon guy this deal makes no sense. I'd rather see us trade for a real SS with some pop in his bat. Eat Lugo's contract and release him if there are no takers at a discounted contract. Use Lowrie as a back-up for another year and re-sing Cora.

I also think we can get some value for Crisp after the playoffs and end of season he had. He's a heck of a defensive OF and can run the bases. He's a starter on most teams.

With Lowell being older and coming off a major injury who knows how he will fare in 09'. I think you need some insurance in the IF. Youk, Lowrie, Cora and Kotsay give you that. It's a nice mix of youth, power, experience and defensive prowess.

Daily Horoscope for November 26

Sagittarius

The mood is considerably lighter as the Moon enters Aries and your fifth house of romance and creativity today; plan to enjoy a good time tonight. Make a play date with your inner child and forget about all your responsibilities for a few hours; you've been working hard and deserve time off for good behaviour. Just remember, no drinking and driving... hire a cab if you plan to go out for the evening.
