Boston just dropped into second place. The Red Sox will be vicious animals today; Beckett has no problem coming inside, and they always field an all-star team. If Swarzak can stop the Red Sox this afternoon, he should stay with the Twins. Someone would have to be sent down. Liriano has had a very rough time of it this season, and the Twins would probably not use him out of the bullpen.

Crede was just starting to heat up when he got hit by the pitch. It will be as if he is starting all over again. Let's hope that he can get a rhythm going. The bottom of the Twins lineup hasn't looked too strong the past few games. Crede's presence could shore things up. Pitchers will have to respect his abilities. Young and Harris got a couple hits apiece last night. Maybe they've broken out of their slumps.

On day games after night games Mauer usually gets a rest. That is understandable. He needs a game per week off from catching duties and Redmond is a very good back up. That said, what do you do with the DH? Mauer needs at-bats and the team needs his bat in the line-up. But what about Kubel? He's done quite well as the almost everyday DH. My initial thought is that Mauer be the DH and Kubel play in LF. He hits for a better average and more power than Young. It also probably doesn't hurt to allow Kubel to keep his fielding skills up to par in cae injuries require more time in the outfield for him.
