I've been to every home playoff and World Series game, and tonight's game ranked right up there with the best of them. Maybe it was the cowbells, or the anticipation of the post game concert, but the crowd was really into in. They were in a rowdy mood and they were loud. Not only did they cheer the Marlins on every play, but they booed whenever the count on Griffey was 3-0 and following his walks. Then in the bottom of the 9th they were shouting Cody, Cody, when he came to bat. If you watched it on TV it may have seemed like any other game, but in the stadium, it was one of the best games I've ever been to.

Huge win last night! Caught the last two innings after a great 16th anniversary dinner with my wife. I hope this win is an eye-opener, a confidence builder, and a good omen of things to come. Will be at the stadium today. F I S H !

I Love This Team!! The Good Points Are Obvious--BuT The Bad Must Be Corrected To Contend--So Here Goes--
(1) Some of these roster decisions are horrendous. The WORST the recall of Hoover where the Marlins now have 3!!! catchers who can't hit--until last night, now it's back to two again. Olivo looks pretty good right about now, and at a pretty low price for a good team. Imagine a catcher who hits for power, is a threat in RBI situations, has a good arm and does a pretty good job of shutting down running game. And don't tell me about his glove IF you ever plan on playing Hands of Stone Rabelo. (2) Fredi's Decisions--And I know he's hamstrung with bullpen, but NO WAY that Pinto can't pitch to Dunn, (3) The patience must be terminated. There must be now the fear that the 4 innings is NOT going to get it done and you will be in Albuquerque. Don't tell me that Volstad(before slight setback), Tucker and Hernandez could not have stunk up just as well as Miller, Badenhop. (4) The concept of SITUATIONAL HITTING can not be that much of a foreign concept. 2nd and 3rd , early in the game, I don't care if Treanor and his ilk have to push a bunt towards the second base position--DO IT--If you are not capable of putting ball in play to the right side. (5) Jeremy, You're a big hulking guy who was suppossed to be superior to Franceour, it's time he quits taking your lunch money. DRIVE the ball. (6) If Jacobs DOES NOT have the brains to not swing at first pitches in the dirt then it is time to start giving a pretty good hitter the take sign. (7) Late to experiment, but can Cantu play LF. That arm and glove do not make a 3b and he isn't taking over 2b. More Later--Oh, Would someone show Kensing a video of his walk around the mound rubbing up the ball. It's not exactly a POWER walk and it may be giving hitters extra confidence. Logan, toughen up that gait a little bit. Man!!! |

I have yet to meet a Cuban that isn't a criminal. Just so you know.

Larry Beinfest, You want the defense to improve. Have them lose the nonchalance crap after some of them committ 2!!!!!! errors on successive plays. Quit laughing when a ball rolls into your pants putting a man on base before a guy in middle of Braves' batting order. Cantu, when that throw skips in the dirt, go over to pitcher and admit "I know that I have NO business playing 3rd, but I'm trying and my bat will help". Jeremy, 3rd year!! Those funky routes to ball must stop!! Now!!!

Allen B, See everybody else is not going to realize that you're just trying to aggravate. I know you don't think that, but they will think you are serious.
Like me living in Greenville now and saying I've never met a Southerner who isn't a redneck. Not True, and nasty!! |
By the way isn't Tommy Hutton GREAT. His disgust with Cantu at 3rd is obvious, the lack of situational hitting aggravates him, Andrew Miller's starts drive him to distraction, Jeremy's routes to baseball are a source of consternation, sense he's growing weary of Jacob's misadventures at the plate and in the field, and Fredi is starting to amaze him--AND let's not even get into Paul Hoover on a Major League baseball roster when your other 2 catchers would start for NO!!! other team in baseball. Try naming one if youdon't believe me.
Oh!!!!! Almost forgot--where is the Jaking, Mr. March, lose two entire seasons--this one with a SPRAINED ANKLE--Alejandro deAza??? Did they revoke his visa, is he in Jupiter doing soft tosses, is he close to "resuming normal baseball activities"--Where Is Mister Lou Gehrig/Cal Ripken??? |

I used to live in Hollywood from '93-'97 and attended many Marlins games. I live in St. Pete now, and I follow both the Rays and Marlins. I can't figure out why these teams have such trouble drawing crowds. There's always an excuse. For the Marlins, there was anger at Huizenga for his dismantling of the '97 WS Champs. For the Rays, there have been 10 years of losing seasons and bad personnel decisions. Well, both teams are playing very well despite their low payrolls, and it would be great if both teams could stay in the pennant race.
As for the post-game Latin music concert, we experienced a similar phenomena last weekend in Tampa Bay. There was a country music concert after the White Sox game, and the Trop was packed! Ozzie Guillen remarked that maybe the Rays should have 'cowboy night' every night. Is that what it takes in Florida? Post-game music concerts? Both teams are exciting to watch and play with a winning attitude! Hopefully, they will keep winning and the crowds will grow larger as the season progresses. |

---------- Completely agree best game I have ever been to, no question about it, the atmosphere was just great and the "CODY" chants followed by the CODY Homer was just awesome. |

Those cow bells are really annoying! Someone tell the cubans to put them away.

cow bells are gay.....
Ay Caramba! |

Cow bells aren't gay, but certain walks don't point to toughness--Not That There's Anything Wrong With That.
