A solid performance by the Yankees. Joba showed why the Yankees believe he's a starter. The only issue is he teases Yankee fans with these type of performances. More consistentcy will have this talk of returning to the BP fade away...

Outside of Swisher's misplay, the Yankees played solid defense. Looks like Tex is on a HR streak. A-Rod keeps hitting 'em out. Hopefully, he's doing it clean...

Bring on Baltimore...

I know there are some los mets fans hiding and lurking here, seeing what they missed out on. Went to Yankees old timers day, it was done nice, as it usually is. 26 world championships, 39 World series apperances, 31 Hall of Famers, 3 perfect games, well you get the picture. Yankee fans go and see the old players, all included in the ticket. I heard on the radio driving in why dont los mets do something like this? ls mets have over 40 years of history. More failed chances then 2 world championships, no perfect games and well no no hitters either, but still it NY and they drew 3 million last year. I hear someone say los mets are going to charge an additional 300 (in addition to the ticket price) to meet and talk to member of the 1969 team. This is all on los mets website. Then i hear los mets may do a joint brooklyn dodger/NY Giant/met thing, but "wait until next year" I mean, your owner built a homage to Ebetts Field, they honor old dodgers, dont you fans care? The owners are basically rubbing your nose in it and now they are askign you to pay more, I guess to make up for what bernie "made off with" This is why other fans laugh and make fun of you, because you take it, geeez wont your ever learn?

Hey, you know, los(t) Mets may hate us right now, but this is true New York baseball. The history is ours. We've had some down streaks before, but there is no greater team to watch play than the NY Yankees. We keep you on your toes!!! Go Yanks!!!!

Nice sweep by the Yanks. For the time being Joba to the pen advocates will be put to rest. Hughes looks good as a reliever, maybe he's the heir to Mo. Tex is on a hot streak. Boston had a chance to run away with the division during their 10-game home stand against the patsies of the AL but didn't take advantage and their remaining schedule is somewhat brutal. Looks like the Yanks will reclaim the division title this year.

Good start to the 2nd half for Joba,
he finally showed some chutzpah out there getting out of the 5th inning jam. Now it's time for some consistency.

When I saw them introduce Moose as an "old timer," all I could think was that they could offer him half a mil to play the 2nd half of this season and get themselves 10 wins on the (relative) cheap.

In any case, sweeping Detroit (aka the 3rd best team in the AL) was no small feat.

Good going, Yankees.

P1/$$ off, Sheila. No one alludes to anything of the sort.

We're all just chuffed that he's doing what he's supposed to and that we see the future with a solid starter once he settles in.

Have a Foster's and relax...

ok, Joba had a good outing as far as runs/hits etc. he kept them in the game, and his fastball kept in the mid to high 90's. is 100+ pitches in 6 innings a good job. it's ok. he wont be throwin any complete games like that but he needs to improve. i still like him in pen or even yet, trade for Halliday, but hey...let's see what happens next time.
for once he didnt tax the bullpen by leaving after 4.5 innings.

He is better as as a starter please… Has anyone seen hughes dominance so far in the BP?? Under a 1.00 ERA.. Umm can we please accept the fact that being a middle reliever is much easier than starting.. Both Joba and Hughes have proven that good pitchers when only asked to pitch one inning ever other day can dominate with the stuff they have... Thus the reason why you generally put inferior pitchers in the BP.... Hughes will be our set up guy the rest of the year and than next year he will be given a shot at the rotation.. which he deserves....

i still think Hughes has a better reume to start than Joba. Hughes has more pitches and seems to be able to work a bit even if his stuff aint too great. with Joba it's hit or miss, control is there or not there.
either way, as you said 1 inning of work is alot diffrnt that starting and going thru the lineup 3-4 times.
all the more reason to do what needs to eb done to bring an already established dominator like Halliday here IF? he'll be traded within the division @ all.
