Young is a major league hitter with a long way to go in his career. Let's hope that the Twins will properly take advantage of Young's talent. It looks as if Matt Tolbert wants to stay in the majors. It's not evident how the Twins will manage to Harris, Tolbert, and Buscher around to sit on the bench most of the time, especially if Crede regains his better form and Punto doesn't go into a slump. It's becoming more of a mystery who the Twins will demote, or let go from the pitching side.

D. Young contributed pretty well last year, especailly with a very good batting average. The Twins could use he and Cuddyer having prodictive power numbers this season, to go along with Crede's. Young & Cuddy at the corner outfield spots will give the team 30 homers and 150+ rbi's.

Young will be awsome with the bat, 23 yrs. old and all that potential. It is his glove that worries me. But you must keep a player with that much potential and that young in the line up. He had a very good year last year.

Wait a second here. If "Gardy" doesn't have a problem with him pulling more pitches (it could lead to more DPs/ground outs; fewer productive bats) because it will ultimately lead to him advancing as a more complete hitter....than wasn't the criticism merited of Young in the first place and shouldn't that come first and foremost from the coaching staff? At some point this organization needs to transform a guy of his physical attributes (size/strength) into what most other MLB teams have; a true power hitter, instead of insisting he be a right-center gap hitter because that is what he is comfortable with...as a young player. If it took the fans belly-aching about this to advance the maturation rather than the organization who traded a legitimate starting pitcher; so be it.

Young's pulling the ball infers that he is maturing as a hitter. Good hitters take what they're given and make something out of it. Morneau can go the other way in order to get on base or drive in a run. Indeed, the idea is for someone with Young's talent to become a "complete" hitter. The guy can hit behind the runner--that's important. Young's biography in the Twins MLB sight is an interesting read, by the way. It has always been unclear why the Twins would give up Garza. Garza showed the Twins that he could be a quality starter, and Bartlett was a steady starting shortstop. But it's history so a waste of energy to discuss it. The Twins need to get what they can out of Young. Twenty homers and a .300 batting average from Young, most will agree, is feasible this season. Harris for Bartlet? It's another call for speculation.
