I think Duncan was a candidate to take first base if Giambi failed or got injured again. But Giambi's hitting well, and Duncan looked to be just as bad a fielder, so sending him down might be a good thing. On the other hand, they probably should try to get some right handed bats in their lineup somewhere. They have now demoted Duncan and released Morgan Ensberg.

Wow, another name linked to the great yanks of 2008 that seems to be an over hyped prospect that isn't good enough to produce...

Can't wait to see what name they throw out there to sell tickets with...lol...

Yanks have ZERO talent in their minor league system, but they keep hyping it up and selling their blind fans on it...

I just read the rest of this and saw that they called up Alberto Gonzalez again. I think one of Girardi's mistakes this year was using Gonzalez, instead of the now departed Ensberg, at third base when Arod was hurt. The team was 0-6 with Gonzalez as starting third baseman, 7-6 with Ensberg and 2-2 with Betemit (who was also hurt then).

The Yankees are walking a very tight rope with their roster. They either have post-prime veterans that need to win now and rookies that need time to develop in the majors. To turn rookies into major leaguers, that means you may have to have losing seasons.

Hank, Cashman & the rest of the Yankee front office need to make a huge decision after this year. Either play a younger roster and face the possibility of being cellar dwellars in the AL East for a time or signing free agents that can perform but don't necessarily win championships.
