Please...Hank dropped the ball on this one... The Yankees lineup is built for right now and so is Santana,Pettitte and Wang.Hughes and Kennedy are built for the future if they have one.Hughes was out for along time over a hamstring injury[could be an injury prone type] and Kennedy didn't look all that good to me thus far...If George was at the controls,I know what he does, what I would do...Trade Hughes,Kennedy and Cabrera for Santana in a heartbeat,Santana is only 28 and he is the best pitcher in the game bar none.Than you sign Aaron Rowand to replace Cabrera.Rowand is all around better than Cabrera,he hit 27HR had 95 RBI's,compared to Melky's 8HR and 56RBI's.Yanks rotation would be best in baseball,Santana,Pettitte,Wang ,Chamberlain, well than...Mussina.Remember folks this Yankee team is built to win "right now".

Their "best pitchers" can't match up with Boston, Detroit, Cleveland, or even the Angels. Santana will not become free agent if another team is giving him close to what he's asking because of fear of injury or bad year. If he's traded, he's signing. While all the fans keep hyping of these rookie pitchers, you have to remember they're all just prospects. Anything can happen. Maybe only Joba is a sure thing. Hughes seems injury prone. While you wait for these guys to develop, all your position players are old and past their prime. By the time your pitchers pan out, you have no more offense. Gotta go for it now!!!!! You lost credibility when you said that all the positions players are old and past their prime. Cano A-Rod Jeter Abreau Cabrera Old? Hardly. Past their prime? Uh, no.

yes but i still think now is the time to sign Santana and win. Hughes and Kennedy may still be learning the league, especially the AL East. hughes threw more, but Kennedy pretty new. Joba threw guys away in 2 innings of work-yet to see what happens when he goes 7 and sees guys 2,3,maybe 4 times thru. although Posada had best yr he not inhis prime, and face it as good as Mo is(i'd still take him over all, even Paps) he's not the Mo of yesterday. Jeter is still my SS but he IS losing a little range. and the Yanks platoon role @ 1st aitn gonna work. get someone there to play everyday with a sub now and then. let Giambi swing the bat.he may hit again and then you can trade him come July for something you need. why let him rot away on bench and get nothing for him. Damon ok in left,he's great leadoff hitter but where does Matsui go, DH?-nah...cant trade him either. just about all the Yanks have no trade clauses. if wanna stick with youth, i say move Hughes, Kennedy, and Melky and get Santana. let youth play CF-Jose Tabata. Santana is the missing puzzle piece...mark my words, save this post, throw it back at me come next Sept if i'm wrong...

and on top of it all, Yanks management is going to be very cautious with the young arms this season...meaning what are we looking at, 5 maybe 6 innings per starter. the bullpen better be solid cuz they gonna be pitching as much as starters. i fine so long as Joba was the set up 7 and 8 inning guy but they commited to him as starter. so who in pen will eat up innings and not give games away. nothing bugs me more than a pitcher being pulled too early for putting 2 runners on and then the reliever gives up a hit to score those runs and charge them to the starter.
