If Manuel wants to rip himself, we won't disagree

Full story: Newsday

When the daily monsoon hit Citi Field at 3:55 yesterday afternoon, with the Rays having just jumped ahead, you thought the Mets would push to get the game suspended - until a day or two after Carlos Delgado 's return from the disabled list.

While Manuel makes bad mistakes (e.g., removing Stokes and allowing Pelfry, a mediocre four inning pitcher, to continue pitching when it was clear he had lost it) the prime culprits are the Wilpons and their pal, Omar Minaya. No depth, no productive farm system, no hitters, etc.

Another lost season.

I have from day one,so im not just jumping on Manuel now that he is losing. He is not a New York manager,we need someone who will not be afraid to make changes to shake up this team...just take a look at Colorado since they got a new manager ,their 14 out 15,turn their season around

I agree Omar must GO with Manuel,if the Wilpons do this the season can be saved and into the post season,if not,AS WE USED TO SAY IN BROOKLYN"WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR"

Perhaps, if Tatis were allowed to play in 10 straight games, perhaps if the clearly overmatched Fernando Martinez were sent down sooner, Tatis might actually find his stroke.

Perhaps if high average, Mr. Wright, would actually swing at a close called third strike with men on base, he would have more fruitful at bats.

I can't help but see that Mr. Wright's average is in some part due to some very fortunate placement of some poorly hit balls.

Remember, pitch Mr. Wright inside above the belt with fastballs, which he cannot get around on and hit, then go low and away.

He seems to not be hitting for any power, on the road as well, due to apparently reduced bat speed. It is not just at Citifield. He has developed a very very long stroke - you can clock it with a calendar.

Ken, thanks for shedding more light on the fact that Jerry Manuel doesn't understand the concept of "leverage".

Why doesn't anyone mention the lack of production from both Beltran & Wright? They're both hitting well into the 300's but their RBI & HR totals are dismal. Is the park too large, is there a lack of base runners in front of them, are they just not clutch ball players this year? I live in Florida & I've heard very little in the written media or TV about the quantity of injuries on this team, why?
