a five run v is hardly sweating it out. i agree the game shouldn't have goten that close but it's not as if they were within reach at any time.

Hey Lou, it doesn't take an hour and a half of DVD viewing to figute out that 1) neal Cotts stinks and 2) if he gives up a hit in any inning you pull him. Better figure it out man, your inability to handle the pitching staff has already cost us two post seasons.

The offense picked up Lilly... this time. He definitely needs to get through this slump quickly.

Derrek Lee sucks

C'mon Ted, we need you back.

Lee sucks? Sox should have lost first 2 to Royals. hahahaha Lilly has always been a guy to give up a few homers, nothing new there. It's early and this is the time for high scoring games. It's not like they lost the series. Some fans will never be satisfied. Win free cubs v sox tickets.

This is the time that pitching is ahead of hitting and there are usually lower scoring games. |

Anyone who doesn't think that Lou handles the pitching staff well:
Were you here for Don Baylor and Dusty Baker? Do you remember when Bob Howry, Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Rod Beck, and Terry Mulholland could still lift their arms? Remember how Lou presided over a Cub team that won the most games since 1945 and 2 straight division titles for the first time since 1907-08? Anyone but me? |

Lilly is still a journeyman, regardless of his 17 wins last year. He will remain a journeyman. Outside Zambrano, the Cubs don't have anyone that will scare anyone, pitching-wise. Rotation by committee.

It is still a W. An ugly win is just fine. Can't wait til June for the Cubs-Sox game. Of course I will be rooting for the Southsiders.

Lilly is one of the luckiest pitchers in baseball and has had the good fortune of getting lots of run support. His ERA will be steady at close to 5 as it was last year. As long as that continues it can only help and will be gravy.
Why he is #3 is a bit concerning though. 3 games already and no pitcher has made it past the 7th inning when their arms should be fresh. Bullpen already seeing lots of work! DLee did his usual of doing damage in early innings and then falling asleep offensively. Soto would have driven in at least 2-3 runs last night. Still, good win for Cubs. |

On a positive note, how good does Angel Guzman look? Man, I hope that guy can stay healthy.

You can join the discussion when you know what you are talking about. Since you're a Sox fan, that will be never. So beat it. |

Can da Cubbies still trade for Jake Peavy?

Ted Lilly "needs" to go BYEBYE!
Derek Lee is on track to fail again at the plate! HEY CHICAGO WHAT DO YOU SAY DEREK LEE IS GOING TO SUCK TODAY OH TED LILLY PLEASE DONT YOU STAY! THE CUBS WILL BE REELING BY THE END OF MAY! AND AT THE END IT WILL BE JUST "ANOTHER" DAY! AND FINALLY WILL THESE GUYS REALLY LEARN HOW TO PLAY! |

Another bewildering cliche from Mgr of the Year. About Fukudome, "He has to get better." Really. About Lilly, "He has to get better."
He apparently missed the action in the Cubs 3-2 loss in ten on the second day so he watched it on DVD. I think we need to fire Sinatro cuz he's letting Piniella sleep though too much of the action. |

One of my favorite pitchers from my lifetime was Denny McClain from Marham, Illinois who married Lou Boudreau's daughter Sharon, (who attended my alm matre, Thornton Township of Harvey) was the last pitcher to win 30 plus games in a year. He, like Lilly gave up a lot of runs but the Tigers gave him even more run support. If Fukudome and Fontenot and gang can continue to support Lilly in the same way then he, (Lilly) is on his way to a 30 win season. I remember McClain drank an excessive amount of Pepsi Cola but I'm not sure that was the reason for his success. He did eventually balloon up to over 300 punds.

Ha. You guys make it so easy for me. |

derek lee is past his prime he is washed up. he is lucky he is able to play first otherwise he would be out of baseball.he is a NL player for the rest of his career. woulda could shoulda. guess what? they didn't sounds like a typical cubs fan.
