Maybe the Cubs drafted a linebacker recently to replace the security guy who is retiring. Both seem ready to 'tackle" a new challenge, no?

Blanco is showing more range and defensive prowess than any rookie or young player brought up to WF in recent memory. He can really pick it. I'd like to see him get an opportunity at SS for a few games as well as 2B. As an added bonus, he is only 25 years young. The kid seems like a keeper for the Cub infield.

Maybe we should spell WELLS...PEAVY. Both are 5 letter names, but RW has a lot fewer zeroes at the end of his contract than JP

I wonder if DeRosa was looking for Samardzija b4 the games this weekend in hopes of tossing him a few spirals in pre-game warm-ups? Unfortunately, neither the former QB nor the WR is currently on the Cub roster!

Give Blanco two more weeks and he will show you why he has been at IOWA.I am sure you love Bobby Scales too.

So, the Cubs don't have the luxury of keeping Guzman on the roster for 5 or 6 games while hurt but can keep David Patton on the bench for weeks at a time?

How was that energy when it was Scales, Hoffpauir, and a bunch of other similar nobodies?

$140 mil and we're having to save all the praise for the 4-A players? What a waste.

Personally I like Blanco's range and his arm. I don't care if he is hitting .100, he is a better play than Miles. Once Amram comes back, keep Blanco and release Miles. Please.

Blanco: 49 AB,.224, 0 HR, 6 RBI, 5 BB, 6 K

Miles: 123 AB,.203, 0 HR, 4 RBI, 6 BB, 17 K

Hendry wouldn't even trust his farm system to produce a serviceable back-up infielder.

Someone has to tell me, of all the bad signings...what did Miles ever do to even garner consideration this offseason? But of course, Hendry feels the need to spend 2 mil+ on him. Lord have mercy. He reminds me of an Augie Ojeda/Doug Dascenzo (sp?) mix, but worse.

And, Blanco and Soriano both have names that end in an "o" and Senior "B" is getting the job done while Alphonso is both unpredictable in the field while certainly predictable more often than not at bat.

No such connection between Hofpauir, Fox and Bradley - except the first two seem to have proven they're valuable as hitters and fielders at the major league level this year and are costing the Cubs a fraction of the salary the enigmatic Bradley is making with.....well, everybody knows the rest.

I totally agree with you. I want to see more of this guy. I hope Hendry does not trade him for some aging veteran. He looks like the kind of guy who will not have a high batting average, but he will always get a the clutch hit. I think he has done that so far. I would like to see him lead off. I think he can handle it.
