Give it up for Big Papi

Full story: Lowell Sun

How come we aren't hearing anymore from those impatient, short-sighted Red Sox fans who back in the spring thought tarring and feathering and riding David Ortiz out of town on a rail was too good for him? OK, at 34 Ortiz no longer punishes every baseball the way he did in the middle of this decade and never will again.

It's fun watching Big Poopie run to bases like they were the electric chair.

He should be signed to a long term contract.

I remember Yaz went through the same treatment in the latter part of his career. some fans would actually boo Yaz when he came to the plate. Ignorance and disrespect by some of the lower class type of fans (like the first poster on this message board under this column) come with the territory for baseball players but doesn't make it right.

David Ortiz was an irreplaceable member of two Red Sox World Series champion teams. How quickly some ignoramuses forget.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Sagittarius

It's important to be discriminating about what you say and believe today. That's because communications are rather strange, with people saying or doing odd things and plenty of scope for crossed wires. Be very careful if you're attending to important details because for some reason your brain may switch off at the vital moment, leaving you prone to making mistakes or losing track of what you're doing. Try to double-check anything important tomorrow when your brain is back in gear.
