now - this is becoming ridiculous. I cannot stand Aaron Heilman and have been saying this for months now. I am a big Willie Randolph fan but I am at the point where he needs to take some blame for continuing to put heilman in the game. Heilman needs a time out, a long time out. Someone needs to send willie the memo about heilman, he sucks. he is blowing tooooo many games and needs to go!!!!!!!!!!1

You know who I feel bad for, Claudio Vargas. He pitches his heart out, only to have the lead blown. Yes relief pitchers blow games once in a while, but Heilman does this on a regular basis. Send him down.

Willie Randolph is the stupid as s that will never learn that Heilman is a dud. Heilman can't go two innings without giving the game awad people still say to make him a started!! Heilman nd that moron Willie need to be gone ASAP! before the season is hopeless.

Agree with top two posters, I too have been slamming Heilman for a long, long time. Every time I see him, he blows a game. Yet Randolph continues to use him. He should be released. Yes, he should have been a starter all along, has been sulking ever since, but it's NEVER happening in Flushing.

It seems like it was Peterson's idea to keep Vargas to a strict pitch count, 87. Wille ssaid he thought Vargas could have gone to a 100 pitches. When is Peterson going to start being held accountable? |

Aaron Heilman should be traded ASAP. My goodness, what is this guys ERA? He should be embarrassed to take his pay check.
Thank you so much. Peterson is a terrible pitching coach. Always has and always will be. For some reason this clown is beloved and never held accountable for the brutal job that he continues to do. |

Still can't but together a winning streak as ususal. Mediocore .500 team at best. No heart, no fire, no ability to battle back and try to win it. Bullpen is terrible, Willie and the Jacket make some really bad decisions, leaving simth and feliciano, wise in the pen, while A. Heilman blows another one. What the hell happened to Reyes? He clearly is not the player we had a season and a half ago.
I agree, maybe we can get a few bags of balls and a batting doughnut. He is godawful. Willie Randolph has got to go after this season. The team is listless, they're not trying and they can't even get up to play the effing Nationals. I was at the 10-3 game the other night and we left in the sixth inning after Odalis Perez had smoked his third line drive of the night. |
He is not hungry anymore. Too much money, too little brains. Besides that he is too busy banging randoms at the Garden City Hotel. |
Yeah that is a real scary picture-looking into the dugout and seeing Willie and Peterson talking in hushed tonse. That's the time to get up leave your seat and get the first 7 train home to beat the crowed-Lights Out! |

I don't disagree that Heilman sucks, but the Mets' biggest problem is lack of run production. We are currently 10th in the NL in runs scored, RBIs, batting average, and slugging pct. Meanwhile, we are 3rd in the NL in team ERA. Without consistent hitting from our regular lineup, we will continue to lose games, with or without Heilman. If we can't win a series at home against the last place team in our division, how can we expect to be competetive?

The trouble with managing today is too scientific and too many coaches. This modern era philosphy can be blamed on Tony LaRusa who started studying computer printouts in the dugout and based pitch counts, what batter to face what pitcher and all that crap on the computer model. What a load of GARBADE.How the heck did Stengel bring all the championships to the Yankees. Do you think the great Connie Mack used any charting. Do you think they had their own "PITCHING COACH" or "Bench coach" in the dugout to powwow with? Heck know, they knew the game and knew their ballplayers and made moves based on KNOWLEDGE not STATISTICS! Heck, the Great Babe probably hit most of his homeruns with a hangover-today he would be on the disabled list! The Mets are a prime example of what has gone wrong with major league managing.

Could anyone imagine Seaver on a pitch count?
The problem with that is that only GM that would be dumb enough to trade for Heilan is Minaya, |
There are no Seavers in baseball anymore!! No Gibsons, Carltons,or Ryans. Just a bunch of millianaire babys who can't throw over 100 pitches in one game. Baseball is being ruined by this new generation of wusses. |
I wouldn't put the onus on the players so much. The pitching coaches, managers and even owners set the parameters for the game. If the manager leaves his pitcher in, then the pitcher keeps going. You get the impression that many of the starters aren't too thrilled with this pitch count rule anyway. |

Daaaaammm they stink.
