Thank goodness Wells got another well deserved win. Marmol is pretty bad but he's better than Gregg!

The Reuters News Agency carried a story today stating that 27 million Americans currently are on anti-depressants.

After listening to both the Cincy radio announcers and ESPN's TV crew re-hashing the bullpen pitching woes and watching Carolos Marmol fighting demons on the mound again tonight, the Cubs bull pen may need a shrink instead Larry Rothchild right now.

Wells going for Rookie of the Year award.
Does it seem that ESPN announcers feel depress when the Cubs win?
Hard to imagine that the Cubs have the best record since the All-Star break.
By Aug 12th, B.J. is on this team or not.

Phillies, Marlins, Cubs, Cardinals, Dodgers, Giants are in the race.

Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox, Rays, Tigers, Angels, & Rangers are also fighting it out in the A.L

Brian Roberts numbers

* Avg .285
* HR 8
* RBI 45
* Runs 78
* SB 20

Fontenot numbers

* Avg .230
* HR 8
* RBI 32
* Runs 29
* SB 2

Tell the truth, Who thought Marmol was going blow this game?

Hey, Hey Cubs are in First Place!

Notice how there are more Cub Comments than there are Sox Comments. Half of the Cub comments are from disgruntle Sox fans.

Sox might have won a World Series in 2005. But this will always be a Cub Town, a Cub Nation, A Cub Universe.

I believe the Denny's Diner in Arizona just ended the evening buffet discount, so we will hear from Nada very soon. Right after he sings with the boys about their Viagra and give advice to some 70's band passing through town.

I am 51 years old and am thinking about making a Doctor's appointment to see if he will put me on Lipitor or something to prevent me from getting a heart attack.

Then again, he simply may tell me to stop watching Carlos Marmol and Kevin Gregg pitch...

It's never easy, lots of ups & downs, but Cubs are in first place and continue to get the best starting pitching in the league.

I am therefore optimistic, BUT the remaining Cardinals schedule in August? They have 24 games left this month, and only 3 of those are against teams with a record above .500:

7 vs Padres 43-63
2 vs Mets 50-55
3 vs Pirates 45-60
3 vs Reds 45-60
3 vs Dodgers 65-40
3 vs Astros 52-53
3 vs Nationals 34-72

During the same time period, the Cubs have eleven games against teams over .500 (Phillies, Dodgers, and Rockies).

In September, the Cubs have 8 games against teams currently over .500, while the Cards have 12.

Whether they win or lose, it always seems to be ugly.

The Cards are going nowhere unless Pujols wakes up.

Derek Lee is a terrific, and underrated ball player.

... and Cincinnati - is there a worse team in baseball?

It all comes down to the Cubs and the Cards. Depends who folds their tent first.

Another good night for lead-off hitter Fukudome -- on base 3 out of 4 plate appearances with a double and 2 walks. Good plate patience, and willingness to take the base. BA> .270 now. Scored once. Who can ask for more??

Both teams have enough stuff to make this thing go down till October.

I have the Cubs by a nose and the Cards as the wild card.

Another good win for the Cubs against a team they own. That Wells kid has waited a long time to pitch in the big league and he is not about to waste the opportunity. Dog days of summer are here and baseball is heating up in the great city of Chicago. The White Sox and Cubs are playing like contenders. It is all you can ask for. Hope springs eternal and life is good.

I think Nada Smurf is an obnoxious, uneducated, bored (boring team) sox fan...most sox fans don't care that much about the Cubs.

Wells pitched great again (I saw him pitch at Wrigley last Wednesday - awesome!) I wasn't that worried about Marmol...Gregg I worry about!!

Finally, the Cubs have themselves a leadoff hitter. The guy takes walks. No more leadoff hitter swinging for the fences all the time.
That took about a 2 years to solve.

But, hey, of course we have something else to complain about. The closer. I hope it won't take 2 years. Hendry, get on your horse in the off season and find someone who isn't Gregg terrible.

Sorry-ano.And his friends 82 brewers and Nada are all in a circle jerk (expect this is a pecker less circle jerk) telling each other how smart they are while the rest of us laugh!
Now I would pay five dollars to watch that, of course I would pay five dollars to watch a monkey Fuc* a football too!

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Aries

Don't get embroiled in a bad-tempered skirmish today, for it might turn into more than that if you aren't careful. Everyone seems to be ratty and argumentative, but once you let the first spat take place it's effectively declaring open season. Even though things seem out-of-joint, keep your lines of communication open.
