Chicago White Sox's Mark Buehrle on gifts, media and Obama

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Mark Buehrle re-lived his perfect game day for a national audience Friday when he appeared on ESPN Radio's "Scott Van Pelt Show." But team-first player that he is, he kept his eye on the pennant race.

And how sad for Mark. Nobody except the President even cares. Ted Lilly going on the DL will be much bigger news.

What a silly little man you are, Jonathan. I'm coming for you soon -- so you'd best get your affairs in order. If "nobody except the President even cares" about Buehrle's perfect game, why do you suppose that the Tribune, Sun-Times and Daily Southtown featured it as their lead stories in this morning's papers?

Sadly, no one will mourn your passing or even notice your absence when I come to collect you.

Typical Cubs fan thinking the entire world revolves around the Cubs. Try the national networks and see stories from other parts of the country and see if anyone other than Cubs fans gives a damn about Lily's injury.

Just think how darn boring that game would've been without CSN's 200+ "swoosh", "whoosh", "bang" and "clang" sounds. Thank goodness the networks got wise and made baseball interesting.

Great for Mark. But our "Number One Sox Fan" mispronounced Dwayne Wise's name. Great fan he is. Plus I am insulted, he has no right to be called Number One Sox Fan, there are many others like me who can pronounce EVERY White Sox Players' names.

And Cub fans, stay off our posts unless you are going to congratulate Mark and the rest of the team.

I just got an email from Jim Hendry, you and Jonathon S were supposed to have vomit duty at the Shrine today. You'll lose your job if you don't get there soon.

Is it customary to give all 25 guys on the team some bling, or just the position players who backed you up that day?

Why would Bartolo Colon, who just went back on the roster, get a gift and Brian Anderson, who was here all year until a couple of days ago, get nada? Wouldn't be right. I say should be the nine who backed you up, which leaves out AJ this time.

I also want to know what sort of BIG gift Jerry Reinsdorf is going to give Buehrle? He owes him big time, especially since attendance will now go up. Jerry owes the kid a gold-plated (American-made) pick-up truck with a gold-plated shot-gun in the window rack. That's what I say...

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Aquarius

Avoid making promises today, or even believing in other people's promises. Today is not a good day to make commitments, as they are not likely to materialise. Taking risks is a no-no. Try to relax until the numbers are in your favour. Those pursuing their career will benefit.
