Vaz needs to show more than emotion...he needs to show that he can win a big one....up til now he has been useless....I hate to go down 1-0 against the Rays because Vaz can't pitch at this level anymore....poor choice Ozzie.....Vaz should go to long relief in this series...he has proven he can't win in Sept, much less October.....the bigger the game the more he clutches...losing the first one in a best of five series is not good. Ozzie can find someone else to put his faith in.....How sad for the Sox to come this far and let Vaz blow it....

Vasquez pitches well for a few innings but inevitably cracks. He expects to fail and eventually does. This is not just a "recent" skid that he is on, it's characteristic of his entire career. If I were Ozzie, I'd keep him on a very short leash. At the very first sign of trouble (two men reaching is the self-destruct diagnostic for this guy), I'd yank him in favor of Richard (since he is the left handed long relief man we are carrying) or Thornton. In any case, Ozzie CANNOT let him go more than five innings, regardless of his performance. He is guaranteed to crack at any time after that.

If I might add, I'm sorry but I don't see the commitment from this guy when he was quoted the other day as saying he doesn't care what the fans think about the quality of his performance, that he is going to happily retire to Puerto Rico no matter what his record in the major leagues. If you have any pride whatsoever, you must be concerned about what others think of your effort. We fans are paying you millions of bucks to satisfy our dreams and desires, Javy. You are accountable. I hope that Kenny can get a bag of BP balls in exchange for you over the winter, cuz you are not cutting it, buster.

I think it is a good move to put Javi on the mound with something to prove to a team and himself who thinks that he is useless. I believe that he can win this one for us. Really I do.

GO SOX!!!

I'm hoping that Javi shows up for this game. His past two outings have been dismal, so he's due for a win. He's shown in the past he can be lights out when he puts his mind to it.

And the second he falters, Ozzie better give him the hook.

Go Sox!!!

So Ozzie has decided to give Game 1 to the Rays before using his major league pitching staff. Not sure what he sees in Vasquez.

I hope he can put in some earplugs since those nasty cowbells the Rays fans love to ring throughout the game can drive me batty!!!

Here's hoping he can tune them out and come out of his slump!

Go Sox!!!

Javy knows he's the weak link. The rest of the staff showed him how it was done the last 3 games. If he can't do it this game, he can't do it. Take him out of the rotation.

Javy will show he has Sox Pride tonight, he knows he can do it and if he doesn't I'm sure Ozzie will not only throw him under the bus but put a flaming tire on his neck as he does!

I'll be pulling for the Sox, but I do not expect them to win. This is not exactly the 2005 team. The clutch hitting sucks.

Besides, due to having to play Monday and Tuesday, the Sox don't have their rotation set the way they want it. In addition, Tampa Bay has the home field advantage. The Sox stink in the road, and they play even worse in domed statiums.

I'm glad they beat the Twins, but the Sox are out in three -- four at the most.

Still, the unexpected does happen. If the Sox can pull off a win tonight or tomorrow....

Please!...all this The Sox can't win crapola is a joke...The Sox have already basically played 3 playoff games!, granted it was against 3 different teams!, but those games had playoff baseball atmosphere in each one of them!!

We're doomed, I say, doomed. Unless Ozzie has soeone warming up the entire game. Cant' go down 2 runs or more early on in this one. Ozzie better do his Sparky Anderson imitation and give Javy the hook if he's in trouble.
