"Nah, Jim Hendry will get mad at me," he said with a laugh in reference to the Cubs general manager.

Paulie, you need to add "in reference to the Cubs general manager" why? Is it because you think most of your readers wouldn't know who Jim Hendry is?

I'm fairly certain Carlos realizes he's not in a war, but I'm sure he appreciates the update.

Soriano, get over yourself. No one feels bad for you. You aren't hitting and you don't always play hard and hustle. You really think you deserve to be playing every day?? Give me a break, you f'in crybaby.

Soriano is such a whiner! Maybe hit over .200 for the last 40 games and you'll have a legitimate beef. How can he possibly admit that he'd come to the ballpark not ready to play if he knew he wasn't starting? What about pinch hitting? Jake Fox, Sam Fuld, and some of the guys trying to make it on this team would never say something like this. This guy disgusts me so much, and the fact that the Cubs have him for another 6 years is enough to make me wander over to see what's happening on the South Side.

How horrible! He shows up "ready to play" and no one told him he wasn't playing! He should file a grievance!

He should quit and get a job where he'll be appreciated more! Bagging groceries, car wash, garbage man - you never show up at those jobs and have to suffer the indignity of getting paid to sit on your a$$!

I gotta say Soriano is a selfish prik here. What a prima donna, getting paid $18M a season and he actually says out loud that he is mad because he had to "prepare to play" for no reason.

Shame on you!

Soriano makes how many million $$$? Last night 2 hits were hardly impressive! He is a pro...act like one. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN BENCHED LONG BEFORE NOW! And as a pro you show up ready...whether playing or not!!!SPOILED BRAT!!!!

And the Cubs' latest swoon is all George Bush's fault too, right?

I wouldn't have come ready to play today? You a-hole, you are getting $136MM from the Cubs, you should darn well come ready to play every single day.

This is the part that gets ME MAD! For what you're getting paid, you show up ready to play every game! It seems he's more mad at unnecessarily getting ready for a game than not playing.
If Hendry 'was smart', he'd start an imaginary bidding war for him between the Yanks and Red Sawx

I wonder how many babies have liberals killed since the Iraq war started? My guess, the number is much higher than those fighting in "Bush's War".

Put Soriano on waivers. The object of the game is to win. This prima donna doesn't even hustle in the outfield. Eat his salary. Don't be stuck with this under-achiever for 5 more years. We all know that Chicago management has wasted millions of dollars already. Whatever happen to the hard working ballplayers who weren't even paid a fraction of what these pansies are paid today? Soriano is just a hotdog who goes in a streak ever so often and hits a few homers. But not very often. Not enough to warrant an 8 year 130 million dollar contract. He's a disgrace to good athletes and to the country he came from.

He now understands how to work a count better but still does not know how to take a walk. Until he starts walking, the book on him is to give him nothing to hit. Especially fastballs. He can now make it to a 3-2 pitch but he just can't help himself from swinging at ball 4.

You mean some Cub players come to the ballpark not "ready to play?"

That moron should be prepared to play whether he is in the starting lineup or on the bench.

What a bunch of prima donnas. With that attitude, no wonder it is 101 years and counting.
