WELL, PERHAPS THE CUBBIES and the INDIANS could get together for another BARNSTORMING DEAL. Obviously, we are going to need a bonified CATCHER with GEO SOTO out of action for as long as a month or maybe more due to the OBLIQUE injury. VICTOR MARTINEZ should fit in nicely theree, I would think.

And the idea has already been explored from this point of view that we could use another decent SOUTHPAW PITCHER to go along with TED LILLY. Hence the addtion of CLIFF LEE.

Now the INDIANS are on record as saying that they would want at least a starting pitcher in the exchange for Lee. RYAN DEMPSTER would fit the even steven bill, but due to his injuiry, I feel as though RICH HARDEN would have to suffice along with the addition of a hitter. Now I realize that some might chuckle about this idea, but consider the inclusion of MILTON BRADLEY in that deal. First, his salary is not at a level that would break the CLEVELAND bank. And given the fact that he has NOT been able to stay on the YELLOW BRICK ROAD thus far for the CUBS, a change of scenery would be perfect for at least the balance of the season, where he shouldn't be a factor, since there will be NO post season in 2009 by CLEVELAND.

And this would be a perfect avenue for GM JIM HENDRY to save face with the fans and media, even if we need to take back a bit of his salary in order to sweeten the pot.

As far as the VICTOR MARTINEZ part goes, I would offer up as an idea the parting of ways with AARON MILES, when he come off the D.L. plus an odd man out, which may come in the presence of MICAH HOFFPAIUR, since its clear PINIELLA is NOT going to make him a part of our future, given the fact that D LEE has another year left on his contract and the fact that JAKE FOX can also play 1st BASE.

Now all we have to convince is GM HENDRY, following his boneheaded comment that THE CUBS may not be active at the trading deadline, even given the fact that many of out guys are playing as though they are on life support !!! That has to be one of the most rediculous statements that I have ever heard come out of this teams management make up; your team stinks out the joint, like a WEST TEXAS CATTLE RANCH, and your GM says that he doesn't think he needs to make any changes ??????????

Jamie McOwen has to be wondering what else he needs to do to get promoted to double-A.

I appreciate Mr. Cotner's effort for trying to get the Cubs to trade Milton Bradley but I have a feeling that the Indians aren't interested.

I agree that Cliff Lee would be a nice fit for the Cubs. Question is, do the Cubs have anything that the Indians want? Cliff Lee did win a Cy Young award so he wouldn't come cheap. Would Cubs fans be in favor of giving up Carlos Zombrano in some type of trade package for Lee? Dempster and Harden together wouldn't work.

Let me make sure I have this correct -- Your proposing that the Indians accept Rich Harden, Milton Bradley, Aaron Miles, and Micah Hoffpauir in exchange for V-Mart and Cliff Lee? I hope you never lose your dope dealer's phone number because he's certainly selling you some high grade stuff.

On top of the 53 million glaring things wrong with the talent disparity in that trade, there's one obvious problem -- CLEVELAND COULD NOT WAIT TO GET RID OF MILTON BRADLEY THE FIRST TIME THEY HAD HIM. Eric Wedge and Mark Shapiro have hands on experience with Milton Bradley and his extensive baggage, which lead to his abrupt ouster from the Indians. Why would they ever want him back?

This just in:

Carlos Pena was added to the All-Star game.

We take Kerry Wood back, in exchange for Milton Bradley.

Bradley always was getting gutter balls in the Cub/Sox bowling tournament.

Was this it for information this week in "Whispers"?

Very weak again.
