Chicago Cubs' Ryan Dempster could miss month with broken toe

Full story: Chicago Tribune

If Lou Piniella had not banned the term two weeks ago in Detroit, Ryan Dempster 's broken toe certainly would classify as a "Cubbie Occurrence." But the Cubs weren't laughing Tuesday when it was announced Dempster would miss up to a month of action after breaking the big toe on his right foot while jumping over the dugout fence after Sunday's ...

The Atlanta announcers chortled like magpies tonight about Ryan Dempster being almost invincible at Wrigley Field and signing a 4-year $50+ million contract before the season. Too bad the Cubs didn't have a celebration clause in the contract. Oh well, I'm sure the parade of substitute starters - Kevin Hart tomorrow night, will fill in the gap nicely for the next month or more.

My son, who is more of a Cubs fanatic than me (poor kid), reminded me tonight of the famous stunt promising Cubs pitcher Mike Harkey pulled doing warm ups in the outfield a decade or more ago in Wrigley Field.

Harkey showed a teammate, or maybe was challenged by a teammate to do a back flip. The stunt and resulting injury effectly took care of Harkey's budding career.

On a more positive note, Ramirez got a couple of hits and it looks like he'll be back in good shape soon.

But the stupid injury to Dempter..........

Provide 24/7 guards to each player to protect the Cubs from themselves.

Yet another moment in Cub lore that adds to the team's "legendary", and lofty, status. What a joke of an organization.

Daily Horoscope for November 30

Cancer

The nurturing Moon continues to move through your eleventh house of friends and associates, possibly bringing a mentor into your life. There is always much wisdom that can be gained by observing the lives of others; you can avoid certain mistakes by watching them made by others. In this case, you may be faced with financial or sexual issues as Jupiter shakes things up in your eighth house of sex, money, and power... if the stakes are high, you need to think twice.
