From discussions a few months back I get the impression that they were glad that America came on board but don't see that they did that out of love for Canada. They had already been at it for a few years by then. It was more about what was going on with Japan and the eastern block and how that affected America. <quoted text> Japan got us into a war with Japan, and Winston Churchill got the USA into a war with Germany, and Itality. We supplied arms, ammo, and equipment to England, Russia ,and several smaller countries on credit that was never paid back. Eventually we had more men ,equipment, and money involved in the war than any other country. If you think Canada was or is a world power you're dreaming. Socialist countries have no military power ,and strong welfare programs don't win wars, they only waste tax dollars on people that have no incentive work. Canada has a lame welfare system. I know this from managing 2 Peat Moss production facilities in central and eastern Canada. Hunting and fishing is more important than showing up for a real job. People get paid 90% of their salary from the government for not working.

It's been said before that blacks cannot be racists because they dont hold enough political power. Perhaps that was before the election of a president (who happens to be black) with a racist wife that hates what America is and what it stands for . I agree with most of your post. However, many blacks are much more racists than whites and were so long before Obama shed his Muslim skin and became black.

ONE OF THE BEST EXPLANATIONS OF WHY OBAMA WON THE ELECTION:
From a teacher in the Nashville area
"We are worried about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream"
The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.
The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president.
We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.
To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.
We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.
We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.
I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother.
The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first.
He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded and he sat down. Now is was Olivia's turn to speak.
Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."
She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream."
She surely would say more. She did not have to.
A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?
She wasn't sure.
Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.
She didn't know. The class really didn't care.
All they were thinking about was ice cream.
Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.
Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.
They want ice cream. The other 48 percent know they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."
Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone ...that they have not first taken away from someone else.

The Amateur President Barack “O Bow-ma”… Obama Bows to a Despot Japanese Emperor Akihito!!!
Barack Obama disgraces America …
Is this the CHANGE you voted for America … a leader that bows to all others? This might be a first … I am speechless. This wasn’t just any bow, it would almost appear that Barack Hussein Obama was kissing the shoes of the Japanese Emperor Akihito.
Not kissing his shoes......but his ass.
WE BOW TO NO ONE.......something BO doesn't know because he's not a citizen of the USA.
What a disgrace he is..........a totally incompetent leader that the liberals adore.

1 of 2 This was written by Sherry Hackett, actor Buddy Hackett's widow........ "WE NOTICED" President Obama: Today I read of your administrations' plan to re-define September 11 as a National Service Day. Sir, it's time we had a talk.......... During your campaign, Americans watched as you made mockery of our tradition of standing and crossing your heart when the Pledge of Allegiance was spoken. You, out of four people on the stage, were the only one not honoring our tradition. YES, "We noticed." During one of your many speeches, Americans heard you say that you intended to visit all 57 states. We all know that Islam, not America has 57 states. YES, "We noticed." When President Bush leaned over at Ground Zero and gently placed a flower on the memorial, while you nonchalantly tossed your flower onto the pile without leaning over. YES, "We noticed." Every time you apologized to other countries for America's position on an issue we have wondered why you don't share our pride in this great country. When you have heard foreign leaders berate our country and our beliefs, you have not defended us. In fact, you insulted the British Crown beyond belief. YES, "We noticed." When your pastor of 20 years, " damned America" and said that 9/11 was "America's chickens coming home to roost" and you denied having heard recriminations of that nature, we wondered how that could be. You later disassociated yourself from that church and Pastor Wright because it was politically expedient to do so. YES, "We noticed." When you announced that you would transform America, we wondered why. With all her faults, America is the greatest country on earth. Sir, KEEP THIS IN MIND, "if not for America and the people who built her, you wouldn't be sitting in the White House now." Prior to your election to the highest office in this Country, you were a senator fromIllinois and from what we can glean from the records available, not a very remarkable one. YES, "We noticed."

2 of 2 All through your campaign and even now, you have surrounded yourself with individuals who are basically unqualified for the positions for which you appointed them. Worse than that, the majority of them are people who, like you, bear no special allegiance, respect, or affection for this country and her traditions. YES, "We noticed." You are 9 months into your term and every morning millions of Americans wake up to a new horror heaped on us by you. You seek to saddle working Americans with a health care/insurance reform package that, along with cap and trade, will bankrupt this nation. YES, "We noticed." We seek, by protesting, to let our representatives know that we are not in favor of these crippling expenditures and we are labeled "un-American", "racist", "mob". We wonder how we are supposed to let you know how frustrated we are. You have attempted to make our protests seem isolated and insignificant. Until your appointment, Americans had the right to speak out. YES, "We noticed." On September 11, 2001 there were no Republicans or Democrats, only Americans. And we all grieved together and helped each other in whatever way we could. The attack on 9/11 was carried out because we are Americans... And YES, "We noticed." There were many of us who prayed that as a black president you could help unite this nation. In six months you have done more to destroy this nation than the attack on 9/11. You have failed us. YES, "We noticed." September 11 is a day of remembrance for all Americans.. You propose to make 9/11 a "National Service Day". While we know that you don't share our reverence for 9/11, we pray that history will report your proposal as what it is... a disgrace. YES, "We noticed." You have made a mockery of our Constitution and the office that you hold. You have embarrassed and slighted us in foreign visits and policy. YES, "We noticed..." We have noticed all these things. We will deal with you. When Americans come together again, it will be to remove you from office. Take notice. If you agree with this please pass it on. And send it to President@whitehouse.gov/conta cts.....if you dare.

It is pretty clear that you are not being completely honest. Canadians have never got 90% of their wage for not working! They get a set rate on Welfare - rent $274/month for a single person and $40/week for food and personal needs. On employment insurance they get about 55% of their previous wage. Only people who were laid off etc from a job can get that.In fact, when I came here many years ago the amounts were higher for EI. I don't think that Canada is a world power but it is not a lackey place. They have different beliefs than you and would not feel good or bad about being that. They aren't having to prove things to you. It is kind of like a self fulfilling prophecy - you want wars you will get wars. There are few people that have the time to hunt and fish all of the time and there are limits on how much you can catch on anything. Nice picture but, again, not accurate. I won't comment on the peat moss industry. I never ran across it while I was in Ont or the east coast. Like I said - there is no point in debating if we aren't on the same page. Either you can't or don't want to try on the worldview - your choice. If you lived here and didn't get it I am guessing you just can't. C'est la vie. It is funny how it goes. I was at a lecture tonight about the plants of Manitoba. They discussed sphagnum at it and before I went out I had looked up peat moss in Canada. I should have realized it was in New Brunswick because I remember finding cranberries in bogs there around Westmoreland and was somewhat conscious of the connection. The peat bogs in Ireland are a different story - now maybe that would be a place to have that business! The only greenhouse stuff I hear about is a solar paneled one with a small windmill that provides power and some kind of rain catching barrel my son and his girlfriend have on theirs. Maybe it is too easy when you don't have to do anything for fresh veggies. I am not Canadian but I do see the difference in the culture after many years here. It really does affect how they go about things. Not worse or better just different. The Toaster wrote: <quoted text> The number 1 peat moss area in north America is located in New Brunswick Canada. Fair and Balanced wrote: <quoted text> We all know that deficits drive inflation, which can destroy a society. Less obvious is the political dimension of such a national suicide. Debts and deficits must be understood in the context of the populism that commonly entices governments to abandon economic restraint. No less political are the probable consequences of such a course: authoritarianism, public violence, and militarism. The road to economic hell is paved with excellent intentions—a desire to save troubled industries, relieve poverty, and bolster communities that support the present government. But the higher the spending and the deeper the deficits, the worse the effects on productive enterprise and the heavier the penalty placed on thrift and enterprise. As matters deteriorate, governments have a natural tendency to divert blame onto some unpopular group, which comes to be labeled in terms of class, income, or race. With society so polarized, the party in power can dismiss any criticism as the selfish whining of the privileged and concentrate on the serious business of diverting state resources to its own followers. Quite rapidly,“progressive” economic reforms subvert and then destroy savings and property, eliminating any effective opposition to the regime. Soon, too—if the Perón precedent is anything to go by—the regime organizes its long march through the organs of power, conquering the courts, the bureaucracy, the schools, and the media. Hyper-deficits bring hyperinflation, and only for the briefest moment can they coexist with any kind of democratic order. Could it happen here? The U.S.A? You Betcha! Words, words, words. That's all the right can offer. White America needs to take responsibilty for the plight it has inflicted on the Black community and Obama will make it so. He will make the racit rich pay for their crimes. We will have justice. We will have free health care. No matter how much the right whines.
