I agree with the authors that the remedy may do more harm than the disease - like the side effects of Restless Leg Syndrome. On the other hand, it may open the door to exile Skinheads to Guantanamo Bay for violently following through on their idealogical Hate Speech - and that's good.

So... out of 410 people whom we elected, six of them are still on our side?

ILLEGAL ACTIONS ARE ALREADY ILLEGAL, so "Skinheads" who are "violently following through on their idealogical Hate Speech" (SIC) are already able to be imprisoned for their actions. Of course, those who would want to TORTURE them (because, after all, violence is always the answer) might need more than just our normal prison system for that.

People are right to be suspicious of any action taken by Congress that could infringe on our God-given, Constitutionally-protected rights, especially any Congress controlled by "in name only" Democrats and Republicans. Especially by this Congress, which is doing everything it can to avoid doing any real investigation of the Bush Administration over its lies about Iraq, warrantless spying, torture, rendition, 9/11, Katrina and Iran. This Congress is a far greater threat to our national security, our Republic, our Constitution and our way of life than "Islamofascists" are.

Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, http://www.ae911truth.org/ , a non violent, non partisan group of design professionals investigating the 9/11 event, have already been cited in these hearings, as a possible threat to the country. Threat to whom? It is shameful to see Congress so totally enable our currupt executive branch of government. Who is protecting the Constitution from it's "protectors"?

A Democrat proposes the legislation, yet the author feels compelled to take shot at the "current administration." Good bone for your liberal protagonists to demonstrate that you haven't gone completely logical.

So are we going to do it all over again for a new generation? Loyalty oaths, blacklists, guilt by association, naming names, lives ruined and careers lost and reputations destroyed by innuendo? It's bad enough when right wing Republicans trample on the Bill of Rights; it's worse yet when the Democrats give silent consent or actively participate in the destruction of our freedoms. Thomas Jefferson was right--"Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." If my "liberal" senators Mikulski and Cardin vote for this abomination, I will never vote for either of them again, and I will do all I can to help defeat them when they run for re-election.

Ralph and Bill really missed the boat on this one. We get one example of bipartisan cooperation. Overwehlming compromise and coordination. And these two paint it as the worst thret to civilization and democracy since King George! Daft!

Where is the religious right on this issue. When it comes to an "extremist belief system", the tv preachers fill the bill. I find it very disappointing that only six representives of the people opposed this law.

You know who really should fear any serious threats to their well being? Not the Repugnants, for they do what they do...no it is the Democratic Senators and Congressmen who should shiver and shake in the dark of the night. It is THEY who enable the Repug/NeoCONS.

Yes, Democratic 'leaders', Democratic representatives of the people, quake and quiver for when the knocks on the doors begin it is YOUR doors that will be visited first.

Has there been such a time of traitorous snivilers before in our history? Perhaps the ealiest years of the revolution, but for the life of me I can find no other era that comes close to this one.

Poor NJ, and you have all those gun control laws to keep you safe when those "knocks on the doors" start too.

This article is, really, a fraud.

This bill is really just a traditional log-rolling, pork-barrel project. There's no threat to civil liberties in it.

What planet do these authors inhabit? Why would the Sun publish this without at least checking the bill?

See ( http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D... ::) for the bill itself.

Thank you Ralph and William for bringing this to our attention.

It makes me wonder how people like this Harman individual can go so far astray from the founding principles of practical wisdom and good society.

Where was this woman when they were handing out moral compasses? And more sincerely, did the class on history get cancelled, or was she away because of a cold?

In the end, bills like this are unlawful, even if legal. And if this country desires change, a piece of paper written with lies will do very little to stop it.

Another reason why people should download as much as possible about 9/11. They will probably take down every bit of video, and to air it will be like child porn. This whole thing is about 9/11 and Israel and Bush/Cheney. Israel is our ENEMY and the sooner people wake up to that fact the better. And lookie there Jane is a jew. I wonder how much money she gets from AIPAC? Israel helped in 9/11 Nutin Yahoo said "9/11 is good for Israel" Pretty soon even posts like this will be considered a crime. They are scared to death of the internetS because it's the ONLY place you can find truth. Like King George said " Childerns do learn" and the childerns have learned a lot about him and his cabal and they are scared so they lable us as terrorist.

history is an endless loop of tragedy:
go read the history of the witch hunts, and while doing so, substitute the word "terrorists" for "witches", you know for fun, and tell me this shit is not the same old game.
"in 1646: " Having taken the suspected Witch, she is placed in the middle of a room upon a stool, or table, crosse-legg'd, or in some other uneasie posture [now called a "stress position"], to which if she submits not, she is then bound with cords; there she is watcht and kept without meat [starved] or sleep [sleep deprivation]..."
america 2007: no longer innocent until proven guilty, or even guilty until proven innocent, no, now you're guilty if authority says you are, and they will torture you into saying whatever it is they want you to say.

Never? Here is something to look at if any of the engine malprunctions were too much for your local grease monkeys. We take great pride in our automotive work = may or may not accept the deal depending on the dry=ness of the wood.
