They weren't really all that different, but saw themselves that way and were seen by peers and their former teachers and administrators that way. That's how they ended up in my program. I know all about depression, family problems, etc., but the rise in the percentage of GLBT suicides (which of course you did not address) is truly frightening and can not be explained by other factors alone. YOU want to make that simple, but the complexities of bullying, internal guilt brought on by family and church teaching, frequent isolation from former friends, sometimes ejection from the family....all contribute to the suicide decision.
