Lee Park footbridge closed

Baltimore officials closed a footbridge at Robert E. Lee Park yesterday, shutting a passageway to one of the city's most popular dog-walking areas.

Lord help us if If we have to wait for the city or county to decide who's going to pay for the repairs, The locals would complain, but to whom?

The dogs were the only thing keeping the hoodlums and riff-raff out of there.

Now that the dogs are gone, homeless people swim to your new mecca. Walk across the damn and set up your shanty. Don't worry, the police won't be hiking in 2 miles to mess with you.

My guess the park re-opens in 2012.

Who got the $1.2 million dollar contract? That works out to over $800 a day. Some repair job....

ChukK, I don't know how many Urban parks you have been in, but I have run through many. "hoodlums and riff-raff" as you put it, don't typically like nature and the woods, since many of them never got a chance to experience it as kids. So I don't think those of us who will still be using the park have much to worry about.
