I have a 2002 VW Jetta 1.8T.
I am completely disgusted with it! Since the day I got the car, I have had problems. Staring with the tires, then the radio not working, I had to bring it back to the dealership about 3 times before they put in a new radio. My clock screws up constantly, the digits change to something other then numbers, the window fell into the door, paint is chipping off of the hood, brakes were not stopping, cat. conv. light came on a number of times, light would go on and stay on when car was in the parking lot at work, cup holder sticks, center console lock came off, rubber peels off over door handles and steering wheel, latch on door to open trunk broke a couple of times, now the worst has happened, my engine seized, had to have my car towed for $300.00 from NYC to Long Island,$3500.00 to put in a used engine,$300.00 for accelerator sensor, and now, my anti-freeze is dripping out of my car from one of the valves and I need a new oxygen sensor both those things costing $300.00 each. I am sooooooooo upset about this car, I bought it brand new right off the lot, paid cash, from an inheritance gift, that was all I had! THERE HAS GOT TO BE SOMETHING WE COULD DO ABOUT THIS! VW IS SCREWING ALL OF US!
They used to have such a good reputation, that is why I bought the car, thinking I would have NO problems!! It sickens me. There needs to be a class action suit against vw. I am goinjg to see what I can do and speak to some attorneys that I know at work.

My 2002 VW Jetta is always at the mechanic! Now it is is sitting in my driveway undrivable due to transmission failure. I had to have the bumper repaired due to the low clearance. I have had wiring and electrical problems. And, issues with the seals, locks, seats, and windows. These are not normal "wear and tear" issues. They are manufacturer defaults. I would like to join this class action suite. Please let me know how I can become involved. My email is arobb_57@hotmail.com

I have had several problems since new including a having to install a new transmission at nine months.Just about every problem has been covered by a recall or warranty including the most recent. The engine timing chain inside broke and the dealer replaced the motor under the 10 year 100 thousand mile warranty. When I picked it up there was a problem driving - maxed out at 40 mph and after they checked the code etc... they determined it needed a new transmission again under same drive train warranty. Keeping the maintenance up and keeping good records helps.
The Jetta is now for sale w/new motor, new trans.

2004 Jetta has been a constant drain on my bank account. I have replaced almost everything on it. It now has a blown engine due to oil sludge. The engine lights come on all the time. Costing thousands of dollars.

Is there a class action suit against VW? If so I need to get on board. My 2004 Passat just hit 30000 miles and has been in the shop for almost a total of 6 months since we bought it. I am beyond angry. My car flooded as a result of leaves getting under the hood and backing up the drains. It had to be completely rewired which took months. Since then, the engine light has come on regularily, resulting in the car cutting out completely. I have had it at the dealership 3 times where they have "fixed"it. we took the car out of state overnight last week, had this problem, had to have it towed to a VW dealer in ANOTHER state, travel home without it and return a week later to pick it up! I HATE VOLKSWAGENS!!!!!!!
If somebody knows of a class action suit, could you please let me know?
Thank you.

I am a current owner of a 2002 VW Jetta 1.8T. Words can't describe the way I feel. I am game with the class action law suit. My email is abiaka at hotmail.com . VW needs to be held accountable for a faulty car. Maybe I should go to domestic vehicles.

I purchased a 2000 Jetta for $20,500 new.

In 8 years, I have had over $14,000 worth of repairs. The engine burned oil from day one, and was replaced at 93k.

Terrible car. Just look at some of these websites.

Lots of unhappy owners!

Please let me know if there is a class action suit. I'd like to be a part of it. We have a 2001 jetta 6cyl. It's been sitting in front of my house for 6 months. Of course the check engine light is on. When we brought it back to VW for the 4th time in 2 months, they told us that it had to do with the torque converter and to fix that they'd have to replace the transmission for $4000. The car has 58,800 miles on it!!! Of course it's out of warrenty. We put $1500 into the car last year. Id like to just sell the car for a lower price to someone who'd like to get the transmission fixed themselves. I've had it with Volkswagens. Never again!

I have a Passat W8. Less that 1,000 miles out of drivetrain warranty it suffered a catastrophic engine failure, the result of a cam adjuster that is failing on all these cars. It costs between $7K and $10K to fix this $10 part. VW has redesigned the part because it is flawed, but they have not issued a recall and do not offer any financial help for the repair

I have a 2001 VW Jetta, bought used with 10K on it. I just experienced my airbags deploying for no reason as I was traveling @ 60mph. VW said the need me to tow the car to them to diagnose the problem. But they will not cover the charges unless it is a faulty sensor. My opinion is they want to make sure or have documented that the car wasn't at fault. Anyone else with this issue?

I would love to join a class action lawsuit. my '02 1.8 turbo gls is the worst car i have ever owned. i've had almost every problem that has been talked about in these posts. I love it when it works but that's been a lot less now. it's been in the shop 4 times in the last 3 weeks! I guess i'm lucky with 140,000 miles but it's been at the dealers for 4 days now, no word on anything from them. it got stuck in 3rd gear when i drove off the lot. i turned around and left it with them. they never checked my transmission the last time. why wouldn't you if i dropped it off because it wasn't shifting smoothly.......
vw are a bunch of loosers. talking to the receptionist, i was told she drove a toyota because she couldn't afford the repairs on the vw's. I'll probably be getting a new car this year, but i'm still paying on this one.

You people all seem to have the same car and the same problems. Doesn't that indicate to you that maybe that particular model and of those particular years (made in Mexico specifically) seems to be the problem - not all of the cars?

I don't see a lot of bitching about the Golf's of those years or anything else - all I can tell you is a drove a VW Touareg for 4 years to 80,000km and it never had a fault. Currently my GF is driving a 2005 VW Jetta and I am driving a 2007 GTI. Both car's have well over 40,000km and both run perfectly. Never had a problem with service or the car.

I have a 2005.5 vw jetta with just 43000 miles on it and i checked the oil the other day and it wasnt reading on the dipstick. I then called the dealer and i was told i was prob. just a quart low as it was normal. NORMAL I SAID?? Im not sure where oil goes. I then took the car to have the oil changed and i was informed that the car only had 2 quarts of oil in it and that there was really bad sludge build up. All i can think of is this new 2.5 engine ending up like the 1.8. AND THE BEST THING IS THE DEALER WONT DO ANYTHING

I have a 2000 audi tt with the 1.8t I absolutely love it, no problems. Maybe vw has taken this whole thing about staying in the lower class of cars too seriously.
