HYBRID CARS NO BIG DEAL

OK, this is a vicious circle...the HYBRID was made about 10yrs ago, but had to wait until the gas went up to sell. I raise gas, you make $$$$, I make $$$$$. Meanwhile look at who's involved in the car business.
SO RUN OUT & BUY A HYBRID SO YOU CAN SAVE 10.00 in gas per tank which is 2 1/2 gals. HAHAHA!!!!!!! Meanwhile, you have a car payment & your ins. goes way up because it's a brand new car!!!! HAHAHAHA SO the bottom line is.......you saved nothing!!!!!!!
Had this conversation with my retired school teacher sis & she couldn't understand it for nothing!!!!!

Had this conversation with my retired school teacher sis & she couldn't understand it for nothing!!!!! Well, if they had to buy a car anyway, I suppose you could make a case for a hybrid. But you're right, you need to do a cost-benefit analysis to see if the payback time will be longer than the car's life.

Also I don't know about you but I buy a new car every 4 years and if i could save 3-- to 400 a month on gas that will pay for the car. As far as insurance that is a constant so listen to your sister she is right.

The millionaire next door advocates buying a luxury car that's 2 or 3 years old. It would be the same price as any other new car, but will have depreciated in value by 30-40% of it's new value.
With that in mind, buying a 3 year old Prius would be a smart move. Toyotas last forever, first. Second, over the 10 year minimum lifespan of the car, you would more then make up for it in fuel savings.
You can get 10-20 years 250,000 + miles out of any car if you drive it like a grandma and maintain it regularly. And if you are afraid of buying a lemon...well, there's always that chance, but more then likely if the car is 2-3 years old, it was maintained.

I'd rather pay the extra $150 per vehicle, rather than drive around in one of thos things.

If you do all your homework you would actually see it really doesnt pay in the long run. Your gas savings may be $300 to $400 but you now have a car payment (which you may not have now, remember not everyone buys a new car every 4 years. Maintenance and repair costs on these vehicles are high. Your also sacrificing comfort, room on some of these vehicles. Not very comfortable for long trips. I drive a pickup and my wife drives the Lexus SUV. I do side work in construction and need the truck, however I just purchased a fuel efficient car (not hybrid) and use the truck when necessary. So all those who make these claims of saving hundreds per month, arent really saving anything. Boils down to personal choice.

While price of gas sucks, I am all for SUVs and cars. Keep on truckin'. The real problem is OPEC not releasing enough supply. Which is a bunch of bull considering how much money we spend to defend them and American lives lost to protect that oil. The gas should be $2 a gallon.
I not a "green" person and believe job creation and industry take precedence over the environment. I can't do anything about it anyway.

Of course morons like you forget taht the Hybrid Toyota Prius these people own will still be saving them massive cash that you currently waste long, long, long after the car payments expire, and by then today's Bush Gas will be up to $ 7.00 US Peso's a Gallon, and moron's like you will still be getting the Exxon-Mobil shaft shoved where the sun don't shire. HAAAA ! ha, Ha, Ha, Hah ! I LUV IT ! U R SO STUPID !

I'd rather pay the extra $150 per vehicle, rather than drive around in one of thos things. The current two month wait to get one from a dealer would indicate you are a distinct minority. My 2007 Prius Touring Edition is now a year old, and I JUST LOVE DRIVING IT ! PLUS, IT looks Great !

According to the article his car had over 100,000 miles on it so he was clearly due for a new car, so either way he was going to have car payments. I have two SUV's and I'll keep filling them up and not worrying about the price.
I don't see the need to buy a new car every 4 years like another poster, so I'll use that extra cash to keep on trucking.
Fact is, gas is not really that expensive. The guy that bought the little car did it because he wants to keep paying for the big screen TV's. He is making a trade-off. Me too. Mine is to keep driving the Expedition, and I'll forgo the flat screen TV and cable bill.
If you are worried about paying for the gas, ask yourself how much weight you should lose and stop eating so much. You can use the extra money to pay the gas bill, and your reduced weight will result in more effecient energy usage.
