I just had the same problem with my 2004. I was driving, car stalled, took a few minutes to start it and the engine light satyed on. Brought it to Toyota dealer who said it was Throttle body and it cost over 1k to fix. I am going to scour the internet to see if others are experiencing this problem.

Score one for Texas- I have an 04 Camry 4 cyl and the Throttle Body dies without warning yesterday. Today the dealer (Star Toyota) told me he wanted $1030 to replace it - I stopped at the parts counter and the Throttle Body cost $720 with an additional $8 for the gasket. So the labor and such muct cost about $300 - pretty steep considering th boss and I took it off, cleaned it, and replaced it n about an hour - to bad it did not make a difference.
I only have about 65k miles on mine. Just a few months out of warrenty. |

You know I am so frustrated aver the early death of my throttle body that in the early hours of the morning today I set down the foundation for a new web site in the hope that it will get Toyota's attention:
www.ToyotaThrottleBody.com If you would like to relate information as to the problems you have been having please email me at: cholvenstot@comcast.net Thanks |

We bought a 2003 Camery in December and bought the extended waranty... the throttle body is out and the dealer wants $800 for the part and an hour and a half for labor. Neither of which is covered under the extended warranty that we purchased.. of course. I found the part used at a pick and pull for $100 and am going to order that and have it put on. I am being told by the dealer that they have NEVER had to replace one of these on a camery until now. Mine is the first... shyeah right... not true ehh folks??

I also have an 04 Camry 4 cyl with about 67k miles on it and I just had to have the throttle body replaced. The dealer parts cost 903.71 and labor was $104.57. Why do these things go just after the warranty expires I wonder?

just over 60,000 miles and the dealer tells me that the reason the car is dying is I need to replace the throttle body. The total, $923.00 in Canada. The dealer has a notice that Toyota has changed the part design to fix the problem. Sounds like they know they had a problem but don't want to admit anything.

I have just had the same problem with my '04 camry! Throttle body went out and the car only has 69,000 miles and cost $1150 to fix. Of course "electrical" is not covered by my extended POS warranty. I am frustrated to the point of not ever buying a toyota product again. I was under the misconception that these were quality vehicles with low maintenance!

Judged: 1 Just had that happen on my 2005 toyota camary with 45k. There is no reason that part should have failed at 45k miles. The dealer wanted 1700 to fix it. But they gave me a break only charged me 1100.00 oh what a felling toyota is. They are overrated piece of SHT! Never buy another one. Rich Chicago, IL rich7575@aol.com |

Please call adn make a complain to TOYOTA you can get their info online. The more complaitns they get the faster they can have a factory recall on this part and they will reimburse for the cost of labor and the part if a recall is issued.
Goood luck |

Have an 04 Camry. Purchased from Ron Carter in Alvin, TX 101K miles. Diagnosed 2 places with P2111 (Throttle Body). Est. apprx.$900 part/$300 labor from local mechanic. Now my blood is boiling, just got off the phone with Customer Service out of Torrence, CA. on the advise from Ron Carter!BIG RUNAROUND! Only way Toyota will acknowledge a problem is by # of complaints CALLED IN. Of course, there are no recent campaigns or recalls as of today and they wouldn't do anything about my problem until a Toyota Service Tech looked at it. WHAT A RACKET. I URGE EVERYONE TO CALL 1-800-331-4331 Option 5. Document/report this defective part with them. I asked who kept track of the complaints and who kept track of that person and how long or how many does it take before Toyota acts responsibly on it. I couldn't get a straight answer from this phone-monkey. I asked for her supervisor 'Nancy Fein' VP Customer Relations, who doesn't take phone calls. Go figure! If this is a nation-wide problem and Toyota is choosing to ignore or cover-up their faulty part design, I'm sure there are a lot of consumer advocates who would be interested in looking into this.

In addition to contacting the corporate office in Torrance, CA. 1-800-331-4331 Option 5. Get online and file a complaint with safecar.gov Office of Defects Investigations (ODI). I did. But we need a lot of voices to be heard. Thanks!
