I have a 2003 Toyota Camry XLE and 2 days ago, the A/C button starts flashing.
Whenever, I turned the A/C on, in about 2-3 seconds, it started flashing. What could be the problem and how can I fix it? I looked at the manual, it doesn't tell me what's the problem is, just says bring to the dealer to get it fix. Do you think it's still under warranty? The mileage on the car is about 70K now. Thanks. |

I am having a similar problem with my 2002 camry with 66K. Light flashes and ac will not cool. After the car "rests", all is fine for a while, then it starts again.
Any ideas? |

I had the same problem for the last week and I found the solution! it was very easy and simple. I checked the car Vent/AC airfilter located behinde the glove comartment and it was so dirty with thick fibers, dust, and dirt. after I changed the filter myself (very easy) the AC worked perfectly fine.

Hey Nick, guess what? I tried your trick and it worked. The Toyo dealership guys wanted me to change my compressor for "just a $1000" they said... "it's only material" they said. You saved me a few bucks. Thanks!

Same problem since last summer a/c works off and on. my filter was very dirty I'll try tht first. The dealership told me a year ago it would cost 180 for parts plus one hour labor.I didn't go for that. The relay is right by the battery under the hood in the relay fuse box. Just remember if you have to change the relay disconnect the negative battery cable first then remove relay and replace new one. 10mm socket and a small pair of plyers and 10 min is all it takes. It's TSB # EL011-05

I have the same problem with my 2003 Toyota Celica(flashing air conditioner light). It has less than 40,000 miles on it. I appreciate the tips and will try the filter first.

I am having the same problem, and guess what, it started after the oil change place pulled the filter out suggesting it should be changed. However, I just changed it last fall, so he put the old one back in. I will have them reinspect the filter, and see if that solves the problem.

I can't believe that there are so many people having this same problem. I have a 2003 XLE Camry and a couple of weeks ago the A/C light started flashing and does not cool. Is this somethig I can do myself. Could someone tell me step by step what I need to do? I would really be so thankful if someone could help me out here. Thanks so much.

Just take a look in the AC section of your manual, it shows step-by-step with pics for checking the air filter.

My wife just reported the same problems with flashing A/C light on 2002 SE. I will try the filter change. Then the relay if they have any. These Camry's are not as problem free as they are made out to be. Mine eats tires and batteries.

I just replaced the a/c clutch and clutch actuator on my 1994 Camry LE. The only problem is I think I have the actuator wired wrong. There are two wires coming off the actuator they are the same colour; which one is ground. I snipped the things to put on new connectors and I think I got my wires crossed. Any help at all would be appreciated.

I HAVE A 2003 CAMRY XLE WITH THE FLASHING A/C LIGHT. I ALSO CHANGED THE CABIN FILTER AND GUESS WHAT??? THE A/C IS NOW WORKING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO WANTED ME TO PAY $1,200.00 TO FIX IT AND GAVE THEM A PIECE OF MY MIND. I ALSO FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA. I URGE EVERYONE ELSE TO THE PHONE # IS 1-800-331-4331. THERE IS NO TELLING HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE GOTTEN SUCKERED IN BY THE DEALERS. BY THE WAY THE FILTER COST $22.00. WAY BETTER THEN $1,200.00.

I took everyone's advice and changed my air filter,(03 Camry LE) and the AC light was still flashing. Took it to a local mechanic, he said the compressor was shot. Took it to the Toyota dealership and they looked inside my system. "Your compressor is spitting bits of metal" was the grim prognosis. And I only have 82,000 miles on it. Once the compressor is replaced I'm trading it in.
