Star Camry Junk BR LA wrote: Update: I took the advice of a previously posted commentor; who recommended we contact Toyota's Customer Service in California, and I called 1-800-331-4331. I spoke to a customer service rep by the name of John. I explained to John that my sun visor had starting flopping down at no fault of mine and that I have a extended warranty that I was told by the local dealership (Team Toyota); my warranty does not cover the replacement of $125.00 plus labor sunvisor. Given the fact that the dealership has relaced other toyota camry cutomers sunviors this was by no mean new to them. BOTTOM LINE: I was also told by John; customer svc rep in CA, TOYOTA WILL NOT REIMBURSE THE CUSTOMER FOR THIS EXPENSE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO RECALLS IN THEIR DATABASE for VISORS. hummm......WERE THERE ANY RECALLS IN THE DATABASE PRIOR TO THE UPROAR ABOUT THE PEDALS.....MAYBE AFTER A MILLION OR SO VISORS ARE REPLACE MAYBE THEN WILL TOTOYA OWN UP TO THE FACT THAT THE VISORS ARE DEFECTIVE. Can anyone tell me how to lodge a complaint against Totoya for this problem. Signed: Mad as Hell Mad as Hell when you find out how to lodge a complaint against Toyota please let me know. I have had to replace both sunvisors at a cost of $250 and I agree it is a defective product, which is what I told the technician at the Toyota dealership. In addition to those parts, the dealership also sold me a defective tire - the tread was wearing out (bought the tire new and only had it two weeks) and a defective battery then acted like they were doing me a favor by replacing it. I told them you are not doing me any favors, I bought the bagttery new and its still under warranty and what is it with you all selling me these defective parts... I was so upset - I plan to write a letter to one of the higher ups at Toyota to see what happens. Like I told the technician dont worry about me buying another Toyota, my next car will be a Honda...

Julie Kitchen wrote: <quoted text> Hey - THank you sir for posting what you did to get the visor fixed! My 2008 Camry visor broke tonight. My husband took it off so at least it is not flapping around. I called the 800 Toyota # for customer service and received a Case Number - and they are going to "consider' reimbursing me for the repair since I'm just out of warranty and only have 30,600 miles on the car. They were very nice, helpful and encouraging. So - thank you so much for your posting. I dont understand what the car have to do with the sun visors. My techician asked me how many miles I had on my car; I was like what does that matter, I'm not driving on the visors that is so stupid... I have a Geo Prism that is over 15 years old and never had a problem with the sun visors. The parts are defective -- its a POOR QUALITY PRODCUT and Toyota needs to address the issue point blank period.

The driver side visors broke and would not stay in the up position. I call even went to my local Toyota dealer and got the same results. Extended warranty did not cover the visor but a new one could be brought for $ 125. After trying different methods I found that a large Binder clip at the top near the mount post puts enough tension to make it work properly.

The DRIVER'S side sun visor made a cracking noise, and then came down, and stayed in the down position, causing us to have to bend heads down to see out the window, and enduring the visor hitting us in the face and head. Two days later while lowering the PASSENGER side sun visor, the entire thing, with the clips fell to the floor. Toyota refuses to do anything about this. There should be a recall, as this is a safety issue-because even wearing sun glasses there is alot of glare. When the first one broke, I went to the dealer(Penn Toyota, Roslyn NY) who told me that the car is no longer on warranty-3 years, 36,000 miles which is technically true as the car was bought in May 2008, but has 33,000 miles, and that the repair would cost $150.00. I didn't do it there, but instead brought the car to my own mechanic, Railroad Auto Care in Syosset, where it also cost $150.00. The passenger side visor has not yet been fixed-I have to decide what to do. $300 for two sun visors is alot of money. Please order a recall-the mechanic says that the clips that hold the sun visor are of poor design, and the dealers he has spoken with are seeing alot of this problem. This should subject that car to a recall.

Why not go back to the service manager and plead your case?

I too have the same problem...the visor just flopped down. We pulled it out as it was dangerous. I went to the dealership and it's $200 to fix. I took the visor apart to see if I could fix - it's clearly an internal break that has nothing to do with amount of use. We have had many cars that are much older than this 2008 Camry and the visor has never quit. Hoping Toyota will address this issue as many seem to be encountering this problem.

well, I see I'm not alone. this is crazy. My driver side visor is flapping down too. oddly enough, I had pushed it toward the windshield, heard a click and put it back into the correct position and it was staying up fine until we picked it up after having Toyota change the oil yesterday. It was flapping down again and now there's a big bulge where the clip parts are. hubby reached in and pulled out a broken plastic clip. Glad to find the help here. curious to see how many other facebook users are having the same issue. This is definitely a dangerous driving issue whether people want to believe it or not. How can you safely drive while holding up the visor? I will also file a complaint. Will be calling my Toyota dealer today to see what they say. I bought an extended warranty too.

My toyota has 75K miles and the warranty covers up to 100K. You will be the first person on the topic who gets it covered by the platinum warranty. The TOYOTA platinum doesn't cover trim, which is what they consider the sun visors to be. Please let us know if they actually cover it under warranty or if you get a surprise when you get to the dealership.

Same here 08 camry. Driver side visor wont go up. Called toyota they said to bad your warranty is already over you will have to spend 200+ dollars at one of our qualified dealers to get that replaced. Great quality no wonder they are getting in all kind of trouble in the US.
