I drove my 1990 Toyota for 17 years and it had a very different type of paint...it did not scratch and flake as does the paint on my new 2006 vehicle.... ...I think that we should notify the Toyota corporate offices because they have allowed the paint quality to deteriorate. I bought a 2006 scion Xa from toyota and the paint of the roof and the hood is discolorationg due to a few bird dropping, My car is only 8 month old, but everything started a just at 4 month, when my car was only 1,500 mile of used, I contact the dealer where I bought the car-and even I have a Bumper to bumper waranty ; they said: I Don't qualify. Tomorrow i have a legally viewing with them, but doesn't seems promicing.

Patrick St Louis MO wrote: I bought my 2007 Camry June 2006. The car car had it's first two paint chips in less than 3200 Miles and an additional 4 chips by 6000 Miles. The dealer insists it is impact damage and not covered by warranty; however the dealer is willing to touch up the paint chips. This does not fix the problem. When the chipped area is viewed with X15 magnifying glass, there is no evidence of base material damage therefore this is definitely a bonding issue and needs to be addressed by the mfg. i bought a 2006 Scion XA on december and besides ship problems with the paint, that the dealer said are rock that hits the car when is in used, my paint is starting to get discolor with a few bird dropping, my car is only 8 month old, and the dealer said is not cover by the warranty, please let join us together to try to take action in a class action law against Toyota for painting cars with a bad quality paint.

Bought a 2007 Camry White. The paint around the wheel wells & rocker panels is all permanently stained. Toyota is repainting it at their expense. I too had many chipping problems (road rash) with my 2003 white Camry. It is ashamed that Toyota gets so much right & can't develop a paint that will stick to the car.

Mike wrote: I have a 2007 Toyota Camry which picked up from dealer less than 2 months ago and the car already has 3 scratches on it. I think paint paint is very soft. The dealer said the car is black and that's why they are noticable. I've 3 American cars in the past and never have had this problem. I've never owned a black car before, but my 2007 Camry would get noticable marks by slight bumps. Also 2 paint chips on the 1st month of ownership.

My dealer said my chipped places were rock damage. They have to blame something besides the bad paint job.

i purchased my 2006 corolla in january 2006. the paint is very thin and scratches very easily. there is some kind of substance that makes the paint feel rough kind of like sand. i have used the protectant that they sent with the car but that will only hold up for a very short time. i do not have much confidence that they will do anything about it.
i had called them about the low beam lights being so dim and dangerous. they came back that they were according to federal highway rules. after buying brighter bulbs, which did not work, i found out tht my headlights were set at the factory wrong and were pointed way too low. had them adjusted at local body shop, did not fool with toyota anymore.

I have 2007 Matrix XR that is not even a week old... and a paint chip on the hood. This showed up the day after the dealer had repainted the top area right next to the hood. Both of which chips where noticed during the delivery process. I'm very disappointed with the paint. My previous car was a black Infiniti, without a single paint chip or dig. Something is wrong with Toyota's paint.

I am the proud owner of a 1996 maroon colored Camry. I had to replace the transmission in 1994, and the only other problem started this month, with chipped paint. The entire top coat of my car in chipping away leaving the matte finish. Surely they will have a recall.

Paint seams very thin and soft and prone to flaking off. I purchased a 2007 Camry in June 2006 I noticed black spots under the clearcoat all over the car.The clearcoat is very soft scratches easily. WE're watiing for Toyota to do something about it.

Ken Ukiah CA wrote: I purchased a 2006 Toyota Camry in Nov, 2006. Color silver. I too have found that the paint chips off very easily. I must have nearly 100 paint chips from 3/16 inch to pinhead size. It looks like large grains of sand could have caused many of the chips. It would be to the benefit of all if we could take the problem back to Toyota. Anyone else concerned? Interested? Willing to speak out? I purchased a 2006 Toyota Tundra August, 2006. Paint on hood started chipping 2 weeks after purchase, dealership said it was due to "airborn rocks" chipping the paint and was not covered under bumper to bumper warranty. I have since noticed three more areas on the front part of the hood with "rock" chips and I've only have the truck for 2 1/2 months! Then paint started chipping around the radiator grill which the dealership determined was not because of "rock" chips and replaced the grill with no problem. After one week of driving with the new grill, I washed my truck and the paint again chipped and left a sizeable, noticeable black spot on the new grill which the dealership has determined, you guessed it, due to airborn rocks chipping the paint. I need advice or help as to what to do, anyone have any suggestions? The dealership refuses to help me.

Just bought a 2007 black Camry, 800 miles. Noticed some swirl marks at the dealership. Washed/waxed the car 3 times with expensive wax and microfiber towels/sponge, seem to be getting worse. And now I have a couple chips as well. I just sent an email to Toyota via their website. Any suggestion on how to remove the swirls and/or care for the paint?

I agree, I now have paint missing from my trunk lid and what appears to be vibration induced damage on the nose, of the vehicle. I will be bringing the car back to the dealer this week to give them an opportunity to fix it. If there is no acceptable course of action I will be looking for an atorney.

Don't you people realize??? Ever since they started building cars in North America, the famed JAPANESE quality model has gone to the shitter. They make Camry's in Kentucky and they're using low-grade, sub-standard paint suppliers such as PPG and Dupont. And you sit around wondering why your paint sucks??
You might as well buy domestics people, you get the same quality these days as the "imports" (that are built domestically) at a fraction of the cost!!

I have a black 2006 Tacoma and the paint will chip if you look at it wrong. The paint chip reveals a white spot.
Is this normal?

I have a 2003 Toyota Corolla and the paint of its front bumper keeps chipping off. It looks horrible!!! This is not an old car but it looks worse than a every other 15 year old car. I'm really disapointed with Toyota.
