chips on my 09 Matrix wrote: I have fewer than 15,000 miles on my white 2009 Matrix. When I purchased it with 9000 miles on it, there were only 1 or 2 chips on the plastic bumper. When I went to wash it yesterday, I discovered (to my horror) that what I thought were road grime spots were actually thousands of tiny chips in the plastic and even a few in the metal on the hood. I can assure you, this car has not been driven on any rough gravel roads, sanded snowy roads, or any other conditions that might have created this problem. I keep it in the garage at night. Has there been any sort of recall on the paint for this year? You bought it used. Could it have had the bumper repainted before you got it?

Please wait...
I bought my toyota in flagstaff, az in january 2011. Within two weeks I had numerous paint chips all over my super white yaris and its windows. went to the dealership, toyota international, bbb and my insurance company without result. Did all this by march 2011. I atm now considering lemon law, but something tells me, "why bother!" It its now june 2011 and my car looks like a dalmatian.
toyota indicated they use this new paint because it its environmentally friendly. What a joke! if I bought a landrover or other equally expensive auto, this would not happen. do companies use this paint on plows, tractors, etc., that are used to grow and harvest food? What about mac trucks? no! The truck drivers and farmers would hand them their heads on a platter. Nonetheless, why are toyota drivers (and possibly other type drivers) stuck with this cheap paint?
I accidentally touched a navy blue car with my driver side door, and noticed a white smudge had appeared. I was going to leave a note. I lightly ran my finger over the white smudge and it came right off. so much for the note...
What's a consumer to do? It's most all toyota cars painted over the last 5-10 years--their cheapest to their most expensive. The people with black or otherwise dark painted cars won't notice until the rust sets in. For them it will be too late.
I agree with the person who said we should start a class action suit against toyota!!! LETS SUE TOYOTA -- YEAH! How do I get started?

I must have nearly 100 paint chips from 3/16 inch to pinhead size. It looks like large grains of sand could have caused many of the chips. It would be to the benefit of all if we could take the problem back to Toyota. Anyone else concerned? Interested? Willing to speak out? I bought a 2007 Camry 28k mi. Silver, Car looked good. Bumper looked good, 3 months after 2 chips maybe caused by a butterfly turned into BLACK spots that just keep getting bigger maybe from driving 75 on the hiway. Wow I have NEVER seen such a cheap finish in my life. This is our first and last toyota including my kids and grandkids if this is as good as it gets. My 2001 Chrysler T&C looks new compared to this 2007 Camry I would be happy to help.

There is no help. Toyota SUCKS!!! Not only is their paint cheap, the ergonomics of the driver seat along with the inability to align the steering wheel properly will have me in a wheelchair soon. An eight-hour road-trip made my feet, lower-legs and knees swell up so bad it took three days for them to recover. Extreme (and I mean severe) muscle spasms in my lower back. I slept on a heating pad/cold compresses for two weeks. Still having some muscle twinges. I've never, ever, had any problems with my back or legs 'til I bought a Toyota. Too much money for this 2011 Yaris hunk-of-junk. But, from what I read on the internet, these problems exist on the least expensive to the most expensive. The whole Toyota fleet sucks!!!

Lillian, you DID buy the cheapest Toyota made. What did you expect? People buy a Yaris either as an around town runabout or a cheap commuter car, not a long distance touring car. Buy a Volvo or a Cadillac if you want nice seats.

The paint of my toyota altis with pale rose color is also chipping off. It started as circular spots and then spread all around. I've complained this situation and brought my car to Toyota Philippines Commonwealth Branch 2 weeks ago. They told me they would get in touch with me but unfortunately haven't heard from them until today. I've also seen similar cars with exactly the same pale rose color with the paint chipping off.

I drove my 1990 Toyota for 17 years and it had a very different type of paint...it did not scratch and flake as does the paint on my new 2006 vehicle.... ...I think that we should notify the Toyota corporate offices because they have allowed the paint quality to deteriorate. Too poor quality.I Have just drove one week and have so many spots. I am really dissatisfied. what should I do ?
