CC is disappointed wrote: I haven't even had my car 3 months and I have noticed paint popping off. I say that its popping because it's red and you can clearly see that under the read is the metal or fiberglass finish that makes up the car. The is my first toyota and I must say that I am shocked after all the lawsuits and recalls they have had to deal with in the past few years. Seems like they would have something right by now. If your car is 3 months old, bring it back to the dealer and notify the Toyota Regional office, in your owners manual.

I own a 2007 Toyota Camry and my front bumper and hood have been peeling for months now. I've called two Toyota dealerships to ask about this problem. The first told me that I probably didn't wash and wax my car often enough. The second dealership said that it was probably caused by rocks chipping the paint. I knew it wasn't rocks because I would have remembered seeing/hearing something hit the hood of my car. Since there are large oak trees over my driveway, I thought it may have had something to do with acorns falling on my car. So I called my insurance company who sent an adjuster out to inspect the damage. He immediately told me the paint peeling was not caused by rocks or acorns because there were no dents anywhere on the hood. He said that the clear coat was "failing" me and that insurance would not cover that. I find it very poor that Toyota has not addressed these claims any further than by blaming it on rocks. I would be glad to assist anyone involved in a legitimate effort to hold Toyota responsible for this issue.

i have a 1997 corolla, dark blue. after 6 years the blue started to get white discolorations, toyota would NOT fix it either.
Now the car is an ugly mess and looks blue and white all over. the paint is simply too thin.
I was a toyota customer for 30 years but no more. there is always Honda which seems to hold its color and care for its customers. unlike toyota

I have a 09 camry with paint chipping off. This is my 3rd and last Toyota. It's sad that Toyota was the brand to have 10 years ago and now is crap. If your having problems with your paint don't waste your time at the dealer. Just don't buy another Toyota.

I have a 2009 tacoma and have the same problem you all do! My paint chips very easly! I had my keys hook to my belt buckle, and swung around to get a bag, and accidentily hit my truck door. I figured I would have a scuff there, but no it looked like I keyed my own truck! It went through the clearcoat, and paint! I couldn't believe it! I think it's defective paint!

Have 2010 Tacoma. Paint already chipping on hood; small round dots of paint missing where no rocks or anything could hit it. Also some on door. Less than 7,000 miles.

2012 Super white Toyota Camry not even 2 weeks old with less then 700 miles on it. A soft piece of wood hit my car and literally scraped to paint right off. The exposed metal shows an extremely thin layer of paint. This is unacceptable paint quality and Toyota should be ashamed. I'll go to my dealer on monday but from reading through i dont expect much from them. Havnt even made my first payment have 65 payments left.

Iīm from Chile and own a 2010 (Black) RAV4 and the paint scratches with a simple finger touch, also the paint is peeling off and began to fade because of the very soft car cover I use to protect it from the weather. Toyota customer service refused to give me a solution as they claimed that the paint was dameged due to my lack of care.( They think I am an idiot.) Itīs true, I am an idiot because I bought a Toyota. It is the worst paint job ever and Itīs the worst customer service ever. I wan to get rid of my Rav4. Iīm another Toyota hater. Do not even think about buying toyota !!

Did you measure it? Your car was damaged through no fault of it's own, just get it fixed.

As far as Iīve been investigating on the internet, most of us were insulted by our Toyota local dealers, blaming us for their brand defective paint. " you hit stones on the road..." "your car cover is hard and heavy.." ..etc. They never recognize their bad quality and never give us a solution. My 2010 Rav4 is now 5500 miles but looks like a 10 years old car. Why donīt we make a global claim via Facebook or other massive media and let us be heard ? Some Lexus owners alredy filed a lawsuit together. Letīs follow their steps.

I have a 2007 4 runner that has lived in the garage since it was new. I have noticed paint bubbling of the rear lift up door and rust around the paint. When I took it to a dealer to see what could be done he basically kissed me off. I have owned several cars in my 73 years and have never had a paint problem with any of them. This is the first Toyota that I have owned and may never buy another one.

2007 Prius and we just noticed weird corrosion... turns out (after research on the web) that it is "clearcoat delamination". It looks like it was splashed with acid or scraped but it is distinctly pockmarked. We first thought it was from road salt but it didn't make sense based on the locations.
It is obviously defective paint. But is it "corrosion" which is still under 5 year warranty?
Anyone?

You have a "paint" problem which most dealers will deny, unless you have a very good relationship with him.

I have a 2004 tundra. like many other postings my clearcoat is peeling on the roof. I talked to toyota corp and they said 3 year/36,000 is the guarantee. They offered nothing. Has anyone gotten toyota to do anything about the paint issues? I see many/many toyotas with this problem. I got estimates from $550-675 to repaint roof. has anyone taken them to small claims court and won?

I have a 2007 white Camry - the finish is so dull and there are pits in the paint mostly around the bumpers. Can't wax it. Dealer told me today $240 to compound, and repolish/coat it?? Reading these posts I'm not sure that would even help.
