07 Camry Hesitation

It appears that some '07 LE 4cyl AT, and maybe other models, have a serious hesitation and acceleration problem. Mine suffers from it, as well as others that have posted on various car review websites. As of this moment, Toyota does not have a fix. They better hustle.

I think I am noticing the same thing. I got my camry maybe two weeks ago.

I rented an '07 Camry Sept 6th-8th, 2006 for a 350 mile trip from San Antonio, TX to Mexico. I noted the problem and was very surprised that such a "1970's problem" could still afflict Toyota. And so many laughed at the poor driveability of domestic autos years ago.

Followup: Toyota has finally issued two TSB's to correct the hesitation problem with their '07 Camry's. I'm taking mine to the dealership in a couple of weeks for these two fixes. We shall see.

Bob ..what are the two tsb that you are referring to? i also live in pompano beach. what dealership are you taking it to? |

The big TSB that is supposed to resolve the hesitation issue is TSB #EG056-56. I took mine to Al Hendrickson and the service rep immediately insulted me by saying that the "hesitation is normal". Good thing I wasn't carrying a big stick because I was ready to use it. I told the useless POS service rep about the TSB and the postings all over the WWW about the hesitation and when she printed the service order, there was no mention of the TSB. So I had to manually write it on the service order. Since that one TSB has been performed on my Camry, the car operates MUCH BETTER, but the problem is still not solved. There is still a hesitation on a cold engine with fast acceleration. And now I'm seeing recent evidence of a modification to the big TSB that was issued in late Sept. Damn! And just for the record, Al Hendrickson service department ranks at the bottom of my list of "quality" Toyota dealerships. I can't wait to get their "customer service" response card in the mail. |

My '07 Camry SE has the same problem that initially thought was transmission related. The dealer installed software updates for both the transmission & engine CPUs, but the improvement was minimal.
* Car shifts slowly & downshifts way too easily * At light throttle & WOT it seems OK. The problem occurs at 1/3-1/2 throttle. * The throttle response issue in combination with the cams re-phasing at 4000 rpm means the car accelerates in a series of lunges. * The throttle response is better if you push down slowly on the gas pedal. Pushing the throttle open quickly causes a big bog in response. |

My 2004 Toyota Camry has a hesitation problem that apparently only I can detect. I have taken it to the dealership many many times and was told "that it is a normal vehicle characteristic" even though I presented research that others have had the same problem. Don't buy a Toyota Camry.

My 06 Saab 9-3 has a slight hesitation at 135mph. Oh, that's the rev limiter.
But seriously, Toyota Folk, what led you to buy the 07 Camry besides "reliability." I come from the side of the tracks where driving is supposed to be fun. Granted, getting your car towed is not particularly entertaining, but is there more to your driving lives than the basic Toyota charm of... what? I know it's not the color palette--check out to hues on an Audi or Bimmer. OR SAAB. |

My '07 Camry V-6 automatic hesitates off the line unless I run it up through the "manumatic" shift sequence. At highway speeds 40-60 MPH it downshifts way too abruptly as it appears it is searching for which gear it should go to. It is annoying. I am waiting a little longer to take it to the dealer to avoid the issue Bob from Fairfax, VA had. Also if you live in a snowy climate and haven't bought an'07 Camry yet, make sure you get the traction control at least on the SE model. Mine is lousy in the snow without traction control.

I had to take my 2007 Camry XLE in twice. The first time they told me the hesitation and flare was normal. After not getting satisfaction, I opened a case with Toyota Corp. Toyota Corp sent out a Toyota Special Rep to diagnose the car. They are replacing my transmission next week. I am fortunate that the dealership I am working with is easy to work with, however, I had to be a squeaky wheel. Open a case with Toyota, that will get them going on your behalf. |

I have an 05 v6 camry that also has the hesitation problem. Had the TSB performed, but it didn't do any good.

How do you go about opening a case with toyota, I am having the same problem and I know the dealership is going to say its normal. But I know it is not...
|
||||
I just had it done the other day, what a difference, now I can use my cruse control. |

I got the CE 5 speed stick, so I don't have the same transmission problems, but in the morning my dash makes a sound like it doesn't fit right. It makes a rubbing noise like a 65 chevy truck. Toyota quality has really diminished. I had an 03 Matrix XRS that was pretty poor as well.

I have had my trans replaced due to the rpm flare. Flare came back then Toyota say it's normal unless it's 1000 rpm or more. Went to arbitration but lost because not enough fixes. What do you do when Toyota say's it's normal and wont attend to the problem. I have a 500 rpm flare on video which they admit to.
I'm looking for suggestions deal with this? Thanks |

Hello, buyer beware! I went through arbitration and Toyota took the stance that the trans problem is normal and if they replaced the car the new one would do the same (rpm flare). That being said they denied my request in arbitration and said the car is safe hasn't lost value after trans replacement and is under warranty
That being said I will sum it up saying this is a total injustice and Toyota will do or say anything so they don't have to replace the trans or the car. Don't but a camry until Toyota admits the problem and does something about it! |
