Does anyone elsehave a problem of getting the car out of park? I thought I was crazy and/or just not used to pushing down on the gear shift knob but now my husband is having the same experience! Any clues?

YES...YES...YES!!!! My daughter bought a 2005 Suzuki Forenza and as of two weeks ago, the key has been stuck in the ignition. Since the key will not come out - even when it's on "park," the car electronic system belives that the car is still on and the battery drains. Evey two days she has to "jump" the car to get it started. Her dad took the car to a mechanic this morning and he said that there's probably a sensor chip in the key and since the car will not fully go to the "park/lock" position, the car will not release the key. He said that only the Suzuki people will have to fix the problem and re-program the key. It's almost impossible to shift the gear from Park to Drive, because if this problem. davis wrote: Does anyone elsehave a problem of getting the car out of park? Unhook the negative battery cable and the key will release. We are having to do this and then push the gearshift release button (located at the top of the gearshift console) to be able to shift into drive.
No chip in our keys and neither will work. Piece of junk!!

Try moving the shifter to the right just a little bit, while moving the key to the par position. When car shifter is on the park position it should let you get the key with out a problem. There is an electronic signal from the shifter to the ignition switch that lets the key go into park, as a matter of fact if you move the shifter when it is on park position you should be able to hear a clicking noise. You don't have to move the shifter that much, just a little bit, when you hear the click try to move the key to the park position, it will come out so easy. I been driving my suzuky like that for a while, I didn't get to the point of getting the shifter cover open and find the switch that sends this signal. If you find the name of this switch please let me know. Mgualber@msn.com Tnx.
