2 "How much did toyota pay consumer reports to write that this time".......... Speculation---not substantiated and certainly not true! Strike that one from the record. "Who would buy a japenese truck or a japenese car for that matter in this economy (hello world war 2)" Lots of people buy them, so be careful, you're marginalizing the choices of millions of people who chose for their reasons. It's not your call to question what they do, or why they do it.(And besides--WW2 was 70 years ago, it's ancient history.) "How about this we take a Ford F250 and a Tundra and race them at 70 mph head on into each other" Two completely different trucks, hence an unrealistic and frankly stupid comparison. Why not take an F250 and an F150 and see if the same thing happens--it would!! "Why does Ford have more cars and trucks on the road with over 200,000 miles" Hey stupid--the answer is because Ford has been selling them in this country for over a century--both trucks and cars. Toyota has been in the full size pickup truck business here for less than 10 years!! |

1 ---------- Yours is a Truly Unique Experience. MILLIONS of Americans have found the Toyota/Honda Cars Much more Reliable. Witness Detroits Still Shrinking Market Share. |

1 You're lying. you don't even know how to SPELL Corolla. I owned a Toyota truck, and put 150k miles on it without a single problem. Then I sold it for more than 50% of what I paid new. My '04 Corolla is the best car i have ever owned bar none. Furthermore, I have the Dec. issue of Consumer Reports. In the reliability article, it states that Ford is EQUAL to Honda and Toyota for reliability. That means that Accord, Taurus or Camry, all are good. So, American Manufacturers can do it, if they want to. Did you know that the CEO of GM made as much money as the top 20 executives of Toyota combined? THAT'S why they're in trouble. |

1 My experience is not that unique. There are millions of people who have have found Toyotas, Hondas, Nissans, Volvoa etc to be overhyped pieces of junk. Detroit, like the rest of US industry is suffering from foreign competitors cheaper products. Americans have gotten stupid. We don't care about quality anymore, only cost. Look at all the cheap crap we buy that is made in China. |

1 How can I lie about a personal experience? My Nissan Sentra died at 125K. My Toyota is falling apart at 130K. My Olds Ciera has 215K and my wife's Saturn has 185K. Ho wcome you foreign cars nuts get so worked up when someone disagrees with you? Are you afraid someone will find out how full of it you are or are you just embarrassed to admit you drive a pice of junk you paid too much money for? PS Corolla. Happy? You never made a typo before MR. Perfect? |

2 We're sure your experience is what you say it is, but the point remains that the Corolla is one of the best selling cars in the world and I doubt it's because it's a piece of junk. Buy what you want and leave it at that. |

2 But Ford, GM or Chrysler, period. If they break down more often, that's more jobs for our stateside mechanics and small garages---nothin wrong with that! Remember, its's not about U [with your 200,000+ mile bragging]; it's about US! |

3 How many Big 3 factories have closed down in the USA in the past 10 years? How many new factories in the USA have been built by forgein based automotive manufacturers? The Big 3 cars are not as American as they used to be!! Forgein based car manufacturers are more American than they used to be!! |

1 Other family members have also had problems with Ford cars and sworn to NEVER buy them again. Ford has nothing but itself to blame for its poor reputation and slumping sales with respect to Honda and Toyota these last couple of decades. |

2 Because Americans don't make their purchases with a "macro view." They make their purchasing decisions based on a "micro-economic" view. Who wants to buy a car that they're going to have to pay a mechanic to fix more often? I' not going to pluck down $25,000 on a car that I know is probably going to break more often just so I can spend more money in the future etting it fixed. That's stupid!! |

---------- Patroitism and Loyalty is NOT Screwing Your Fellow Americans with Poorly assembled Crap, Because You didn't EARN Your High Pay ! Check with Your Local Rental Car Companies. They told me that the only thing they did to the Japanese cars in their Fleets was Check the Oil and Air in the Tires. You are dead wrong on Car Quality. True Patriots Buy Japanese until the Detroit Children Learn their Lesson. Which looks to be after the Current Lazy Assemblers Retire. How about You and Management Taking a 50% Pay Cut ? Bring New car cost Down in line with Quality. |

Toyota Agrees to Sludge Settlement for Consumers
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2007/01... American manufacturers suffer because the amount of money they make per vehicle sold is less than Japan...We can debate the reasons why... The fact is Ford quality is about on-par with Toyota. The PERCEPTION is that it isn't... Daimler sure did help Chrysler quality LOL Where was Mercedes on this list???? |
