Close NUMNI down because it has congested our economy with cash guzling MUMNI workers who do not need to be in this wonderful BAy Area. They are the reason why Toyota's price index per vehicle is high by bloated NUMNI union workers who make a decent wage by allowing the robotics to do the work. the only person who should be paid a premiuin are the quality control people who really use their brains. NUMNI workers should be paid $20.00 per hour TOPS!!!

Maybe someday in the near future, American car makers will realize that there are right to work states that would welcome them. Foreign auto makers already have.

After you learn to spell then maybe you should do some research in regard to your comment.

The fact is that NUMMI is an asset to the Bay Area because between the 4,700 workers the factory employees there are at least 30,000 other employees through various vendors that would feel the immediate effect of a NUMMI shutdown. Ever heard heard of Flint, Michigan? The place is a ghost town in terms of employment and I can't even imagine the amount of money the tax payers are paying for unemployment, I'm sure the number is astronomical.

So, before you run your mouth about something you have yet to know about, check your facts. Putting 30,000 people pout of work is NEVER a good idea.

Having owned a NUMMI-produced Tacoma, a Japanese-produced Camry Hybrid and a Japanese-produced Lexus GS 350, I hate to say it, but I understand. The fit and finish on the Camry and the Lexus are close to flawless. There are small but obvious defects in the finer details of the Tacoma - overtightened fasteners that leave dimples, slight misalignment of panels, etc.

When you're paying $30K or more for a vehicle, it's those little details that matter. The Tacoma is a great truck, but it could use some improvement in final assembly.

NUMMI workers can thank the liberal, over environmentally regulated, business un-friendly Bay Area for their jobs going away.
