Chrysler cars are getting much better! Besides who else will give you a lifetime powertrain warranty? Only Chrysler!!! Their styling is hotter than anything else on the road from any other manufacturer! The 300 super hot, as is the PT Cruiser, and the Crossfire is another hot design! Show me any Honda that actually has hot styling, and i'll sell you a Bridge!
Crossfire & PT Cruiser DISCONTINUED after this year. The 300 is for GHETTO RATS !!!!American cares = GARBAGE !!!

I drove American cars (used and new) until late 2007 and they were all quite reliable up to certain points. The used ones I drove first (Grand Am and Celebrity) were not reliable. The three Saturns afterwards, two out of the three were quite reliable. The Saturns needed regular maintenance up to about 40K, but between 40 and 50K they need more maintenance and monitoring. After 60K you have to be on the look out for major repairs like struts, ball bearings, fuel pumps, etc. I agree with one poster that said "driving 145K in New York is the equivalent of driving 300K anywhere else". This is because of the amount of people who drive in NY, DOT road maintenance schedules being at long intervals, and the constant changes in weather. I think it's all about taking the time out to take care of the vehicle, especially if you drive over 350 miles a week like I do.

In November of 2007 I leased a 2008 Subaru Tribeca and find that this is the best I've ever driven!

The Grand Am and Celebrity were not reliable after 90,000 miles.

Show me any Chrysler that can give you over 250,000 miles of service without ANY engine or transmission problems and I'll buy it. My Accord has 275.000 miles on it, purrs like a kitten, and still gives me 28 mpg. That's why Hondas are on top.

I am surprised of this article,
I have owned 3 civics in the last 9 years, and they all had transmission problems, especially the 2001 civic. If you reach 50,000 miles without no transmission problems thats a miracle.
Crash wise maybe they are good, but If you buy honda you know you will have transmission problems.
You must have some dirving issue there, bud! My last Accord last 14 years, over 300,000 miles and other than regular maint., it only needed the clutch replaced once! I hope the one I have now ('01 with almost 100,000 and NO trouble) lasts as long. I am a Honda customer for life & a loyal American. I believe in capitalism... if someone builds a better product, I will buy it! Buying American just because it is American is a subsidy akin to communism.

The accords are nice, but the civic had alot of transmission problems. If you google honda transmission problems, you will hear other people talk about the issues with honda civics. I don't know about the accord but civics I definetly know about. I kept buying them because they were cute and stylish. But next car won't be a civic, I might try the accord or the CRV.
there are some out there

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus SEL, which is going on 145,000 miles and I'm pretty pleased with it's reliability. Yes, I had a transmission failure about 5,000 miles ago, but 140,000 miles of driving in NY probably equates to 300,000 miles elsewhere.
I had a 1991 Nissan Maxima that kept breaking water pumps and I replaced the electronic window mechanisms (makes the windows go up or down) six times!
I guess you could say, there are good American cars and bad Japanese cars.
finally someone with a brain.

they are discontinuing the pt cruiser convertible, crossfire and the magnum....i am very surprised about the magnum....it really is nice twist to a old fashion muscle car....the magnum w/hemi has power and handles really well...i guess some people were turned off because of the station wagonish look....i would love to buy one and stash it in my garage..very fun to drive
Yes, it is a cool looking car. Should be able to pick one up reasonably in the next year or so.

Honda's are tin can's on wheels, I'd hate to get into a major accident in one! I'm sure if You put honda accord in a head on collision with a Dodge avenger the Dodge will come out with less damage! Also I had an accord, it handled like crap! The rear end used to slide out from under me many times! It was actually a very unsafe car! My PT Cruiser handles twice as good as my Accord did! Also my Cruiser is faster, and turns more heads than my Honda ever did! Nope, Honda would have to pay me to drive another one!
