They LOST 197 million dollars???

Just think, if they did NOTHING and invested 15 billion for a measely 1%, they would have GAINED 150 million dollars...

This article is right on the money. Chrysler officially says that they don't break out sales between retail and fleet. Why?, because it would show the bad news. If retail sales were growing and fleet sales were shrinking, they would be sure to show the data to the press any anybody who asked. It is pretty clear when sales of a car like the Chrysler Sebring goes up by 60% in one month what is going on. Chrysler retail sales to real customers are going down. Fleet sales to the Car Rental companies are going up.

I agree. The article is recent but the news is way way old.
The news media and or "experts" just looking to keep themselves in business and continue to sensationalize. Everyone has known for a long time it was about survival until the new product arrives. In my opinion there is no news until we see how the new vehicles are perform in the market place. What I worry about is what Fiat will do with Chrysler once they get control. What makes Chrysler think all of a sudden Fiat has Chrysler's best interest in mind?

Chrysler is doomed. Let them fold, and hope the consumers go to GM or Ford.

Ooopsie, looks like someone took the buyout and is living to regret it!! Sucks to be you, and your empty wallet which is all alone these days with nothing left in it but an insurance card that is no longer valid and some credit cards that has been closed down due to non payments!

watch the ball....which cup is it under?

the reason for the charade.....was to borrow the money

2007-8....spike gas prices, steers people away from american cars, starts the "car" problem...

coincide with ramp up of mortgage scam...

use these "problems" as reasons to need to "fight" them with borrowed money...ie bailouts...bailouts=borrowed money from a private for profit bank that makes its money by lending money to your government, money that it creates out of thin air....ie digits typed into a computer....these digits are then sent electronically over to the treasury, the treasury then issues bonds, these bonds are then sold on the open market to you and places like china, they are something created from nothing...however, there is more to it, after borrowing the money from the private for profit bank, we, that is you and me, now owe this bank interest for loaning us money that they, a handful of chosen individuals, made from nothing.

and the best part is that the interest compounds daily, sweet, they call it the national debt, but all that means is you owe the people that print your money all that money...and to top it off all that it takes for the scam to be the biggest best money maker ever known is to make sure that no matter what, the biggest customer, the government, keeps coming up with great ways to NEED to borrow money...hmm, how can they do that?...oh, i see, they just buy out the general elections and make sure their choices are who you get to choose from....someone from....energy,pharma,media,wa r contracts or corporations who are on the receiving end of the money as debt scam, that way they can always have their guys in their borrowing money from them...

its really funny how stupid the majority of people are...this is a carnie scam, you, all of you have fallen for it...

bailout, does good, does bad, doesn't matter, the money already got borrowed....that's all that matters....

and for they naysayers, what I'm telling you is well understood in by those in high finance, its time you learn what is already known...you may be able to save yourselves f you can put 2 and 2 together

Typical one liner BS , they don't read the article but comment anyway!! Hear that allen, butch, george!

If you would've read it, you would have seen this

''''compared with 2009''''

Chrysler lost $197 million in the first quarter, and it's expected to post a net loss when it releases second-quarter results on Monday.

Overall, Chrysler's U.S. sales rose 12 percent from January through June compared with 2009. But sales to individuals, known as retail, tumbled 21 percent, according to the industry data.

Detroit -- A year after getting billions of dollars in federal aid to stay in business, Chrysler now brags each month about growing sales, insisting it is rolling down the road to recovery.

But beneath the surface of those sales figures are troubling signs for Chrysler. The company has a long way to go before it is truly healthy again.

Most of Chrysler's gains this year came from sales to rental car companies, governments and other businesses, according to confidential data obtained by the Associated Press. Everyday drivers have shunned its dated lineup of cars and trucks.

So you blew all of your money already. So we're still working and earning a paycheck. You're broke, we're not. I say "It sucks to be you". You say it will end. I say, no end in sight yet.
