More people need to report this stalling to the http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ . this is the only way that we Jeep owners will get this garbage company called Chrysler to take action on such an unsafe problem with many Jeep products. If you value the safety of your family do not let them ride in a 2007 Jeep product until this stalling is resolved. This is a deadly vehicle and should be banned from americas roads until it is fixed.

This engine stall has happened to my brand new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and I have now scheduled a service appointment. If the problem persists I will file a complaint, but not because the vehicle is faulty. I'd simply like to see all future vehicles as reliable as possible. Jeeps are great auto's, but there are always 1st generation problems to be resolved.

Thanks for the website info "Stalling Jeeps". I filed a complaint today. So far NHTSA has received 54 complaints of this problem. My 2007 Wrangler (2 door) has less than 10,000 miles and has lost all electrical and engine power on 5 occasions. My dealership (Courtesy Chrysler in Brandon, Florida) denies that such a problem is even possible and states it is "irreparable" since "we can't replicate or verify the problem". The last stall occurred in a busy intersection and almost cost me my life. I've wanted a Jeep since I was a kid. What a disappointment.

I've seen something similar happen twice with my 2007 Jeep Wrangler. I just filed a detailed NHTSA report (#10195453).

First, I've had this occur only on hot days, after the vehicle had soaked in the sun for hours and the temperature was > 88F. What appears to be happening is a vehicle electronics crash and restart. All the dashboard lights flash momentarily, just like at startup, then the usual restart occurs and they all reset to normal.

The "stalling" I'm getting is not an engine stall. On the first occasion, it was more like the retard that happens when the stability control system decides to reduce speed. It felt like the brakes were applied lightly for slightly less than one second.

On the second occasion, the transmission suddenly did an unexpected downshift, engine RPM went from 1500 or so to 3000 or so (this was going up a hill), but everything reset before anything bad happened.

Recall F50 (the software fix to the stability control system) was applied before these events.

is this stalling problem happening to automatic transmissions? I rented an automatic transmission 2007 Jeep wrangler unlimited in hawaii a few months ago, it randomly stalled one time. At this time, my standard transmission 2007 Jeep wrangler unlimited had already been ordered. I have had it for nearly 2 months now, put 5000km on it, and not yet encountered the stalling problem.

I had my jeep in the service department and they replaced the Fuel Injection Wiring Harness. The dealer said this -was- the fix to the problem and the fix came directly from the Chrysler head technician. However, on Saterday July 7th 2007 my Jeep engine shutoff while driving down hill, again. It is like shutting the key off while driving. Luckily, I was not in traffic or in the middle of a intersection, railroad crossing etc. Shifting to nuetral turning the key to the off position and restarting the motor allowed me to continue on my trip.

I've scheduled another day to return the vehicle to the dealer and they will, of course replace something else, then send me off on my way.

This is a awsome vehicle. But, this is a scary problem and this problem began the first day of driving after the KARR Alarm was installed. Coincidence?

Synopsis:
2007 Jeep Wrangler A/T 100+ degree day while driving.

Symptoms:

A.Engine shutoff while driving.
B.I too experienced eratic downshifts as John Nagle mentioned.
C.Prolonged engine starts (where the starter cranks for 3-5 seconds without engine start-up.

I have heard of a lot of after install car alarms and auto start systems causing major electrcal system problems in different makes and models of domestic vehicles - (as around here auto start is a common device to have on vehicles to ward off the -45 degree winter weather).

Yes! I have had this happen as well and thought the Jeep was going to roll over. I took it in to the dealer and they were unable to recreate the problem, and found nothing wrong. However, this has happened to me at least three times and I am very concerned about driving the vehicle. I've scheduled an appointment to have the mechanic drive with me to see if we can recreate the problem.

I recently purchased a 2007 Jeep unlimited and have also noticed the rpm's shooting up from approx. 1500 to approx. 3000. I have also experienced the prolonged engine starts. Luckily I have not had the experience of the engine stall. One thing I would like to ask is, has anyone with a hard top had any water leaks with the T tops? I have had them leak on a few occasions nothing major but it is a new vehicle.

I bought my 2007 Jeep 4 door on 2-13-07. Three weeks later I noticed a large oil spot in my garage. Turns out the transmission had to be pulled and the rear main seal replaced. Two months later I was turning around and the shifter would not go past N. After turning off the jeep twice I got angry and slammed it into D. The dealership had to take out the shifter linkage and re-run it. Two months later after taking it in twice with the ETC light comming on I started up the jeep and the ETC light flashed at me and the jeep spuddered and lurched as I pulled it out of the garage. I turned off the jeep and restarted it and it was fine. It is in the shop waiting on a part to fix this. Yesterday I contacted an law firm to see if I have a case under the Lemon Law in Missouri.

Hi,
Everytime it rains I have a puddle in the front passenger side of my car. I have the hardtop and softtop. I also have the problem with the ignition sticking when I start the car, and took it to the dealership, and they started the jeep 12 times and it didn't do it for them. After the 3,000 mile oil change I picked up the jeep and was driving it and all of a sudden it wanted to stall out on me, but the answer to you question about the leak in the roof. Bring it to the dealership. They had to order all kinds of seals for mine that they have to replace they said! I love my jeep, but it is brand new and with all the problems I am reading about the stalling on here and having a son that is driving it with his permit I am a very worried now!! I am writing down everytime the igintion gets stuck date and time. And actually asked them about the Lemon Law when I was there!! I don't think they were happy, but neither was I!!!!

Hi
I was reading your information about your jeep. I have a jeep 4 door unlimited. Just got it the end of may and I have the samething happening to mine with the prolonge engine starts. the dealership can't make it happen when they have it, so they haven't been able to fix the problem yet. After the 3000 mile oil change last week my jeep wanted to stall on me too. I didn't have an alarm installed in mine, and it didn't come with a factory alarm either. If you find out what is wrong with yours if you could let me know. My email address is MarkJuliek@aol.com or if anyone knows about the prolong ignition start problem, and the jeep wanting to stall please email me. Thank you

Just put my 2007 Wrangler in the Shop for a bad head gasket 2 days after they re-programmed for the stall re-call. I have also had the jump in RPM and the ESP sensor repaired twice. I also had the bad shimmy in the front end when I first bought the truck. At this point I too am seeking NJ Lemon Law information. I love the truck, but refuse to let it kill me or my pocketbook as the standard warranty sucks

I have a 2007 Wrangler X. I just recently had the first real issue with it at approx. 9500 miles. I notice that is was running bad and the engine started missing. By the time I got it to the dealership, the check engine light would not go off. The scan tool shows that cylinder #6 was misfiring. The tech ran all of the standard tests for an engine problem and found nothing. He replaced the spark plug and sent me on my way. I was back at the dealership in about 15 min. Problem not solved. They checked again and same code. I called the service dept. today and they still can't find the problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem. If you have, please let me know what's up. cmdavis01@msn.com or just reply to this forum. Thanks!!

I traded out of my Jeep yesterday for a Dodge truck with a Hemi. I loved driving the Jeep (when there was not a problem). I could not put my children in it anymore and not have the security of knowing that I could make it to my destination and back home without something else going wrong. I think the dealership understood (or they were tired of seeing & hearing from me) and that is why they gave me a great deal to get out of mine. I would rather of had my money back so that I didn't have to deal with Chrysler anymore but, that was not going to happen. Good luck with your problems.
