This procedure worked for my 2003 Honda Accord LX

Hold the odometer reset button for 10-15 seconds (or until the Maintenance Required light goes off) for Accord 2005

Check the engine oil level before going for a change, also always use full synthetic

The following instructions also works for a 2005 Honda CRV SE.
1) Turn they key to the II position
2) Turn the key to the off position, and push and hold in the odometer reset button
3) Turn they key back to the II position, while still holding the button.
4) After about 10-15 seconds, the light should go off. Be Patient

I have a honda accord 2005 and it does work.
If yours doesn't reset you have a legit problem.
