The Shadow RS is the sportiest of the quartet of low-slung beginner bikes, all of which are powered by the same liquid-cooled 745cc V-Twin. Like the new-for-2010 Shadow Phantom, the RS is fuel-injected while the less expensive Aero and Spirit retain their 34mm CV carburetors.

Good looking bike. It's a shame it's not very freeway friendly. Like all Shadow 750's, it needs different gearing or a 6 speed tranny to make it a good all-rounder.

Judged: 4 4 2 Hey "Frank", owning a Harley is more than price. Its a Lifestyle and preference to be part of a select few. I've seen ur postings in other places, "bashing" Harley.. Now maybe you got burned in a situation, or your broke-a$$ cant afford a Harley, I dont know. But if you dont like the bike MOVE-ON to another thread! Like the kiss-a$$ Honda thread. |

Shadow RS MSRP in the States is $7799. For $8399 I can get a Kawasaki Vulcan 900. V-Star 950 is just $8099. Both have rear disc, belt drive, alloy wheels (tubeless tires), and more engine. Suzuki M50 is $7799 with shaft drive, alloy wheels, and more engine. And Honda wonders why their market share is shrinking....

Personally I think that this new RS is the BEST Shadow yet ... but, as pointed out, price is far too close to it's main competition, the XL883 ... so that alone will likely hurt sales. Price point the RS at at least $1000 cheaper, drop 50-60lbs and add a rear disc ... then they'd have a home run!
BTW, scootworks.com make a belt drive conversion kit for the previous chain-driven Shadow models (VLX & 750D), so it's likely they will also for the RS |

Dudes, it's not about the brand name of the bike, it's about riding first and foremost! I always say that when someone buys the bike for me and maintains it that's when they have input on what I ride. BTW, I ride a Shadow my husband rides a Vulcan and I have tons of friends that ride Harleys as well as everything else. The first question you should ask yourself is "does the bike fit?" For those of us who are height challenged fit is most important, for me even the lowered 883HD is uncomfortable. Would I own a HD - sure, but I would also own a ton of other metrics if they fit.
I know there are clubs out there that only allow one brand or another and if that fits your lifestyle great... personally I'd rather have good friends that ride whatever they/we want vs having to choose my riding buddies because of what they ride. |

Select few.....millions? Who are you kidding, a few years back all the Harley snobs had their names on waiting lists. Hardly makes for a 'select few'. |

It doesn't matter...if it's a decent motorcycle and it looks nice, runs good and people like it who can say it's not a good buy. Sure it looks alot like an Sportster, and no one is saying it's going to give you the same experience as an HD can, because it just wont. HD's a great bike, but to compare a Honda & Harley is like comparing apples and oranges, they are definitely different! The bike is what it is, it fills a decent portion of the market and for many people that will make their day just fine...imitation or not.

Harley upped the priced on Sporters by $1000..they are now 7999! All Honda's line is priced below Harley...and no one will steal it either!
I used to have a Honda Shadow that was a work of art and looked like a custom bike worth $20,000! I paid $4200 for it ;) Harley riders were jealous as hell about it! Most were crowing about paying too much for their bike!! |
overpriced junk?? you live in York and promote Honda? What days do you drive your toyota to therapy......im slicing your tires |

UHHHHH? too much crack has been proven to cause delusions and bad dreams...slow down fire rider.... |
