My 2001 Excursion blew 2 sparkplugs not once but twice after being fixed. My husband bought a rebuilt head and wouldn't you know the rebuilt head had the exact same problem fixed on it. I've called and complined to Ford but nothing was done. California has a class action lawsuit going anybody in Tennesse want to get one started

I have a 2003 F-250 pickup truck and a spark plug blew out. I had never heard of this problem- and I am now finding out it seems to be a problem in Ford trucks!
Not a lot of help nor cooperation from Ford...I live in New York - and chance of a class action suit here? |

2001 Ford Expedition, 5.4 Triton. Blew #3 plug while climbing a hill. When replacing all 8 plugs and coils the mechanic told me the #3 plug was out of it's socket. Apparently I'm lucky since I only spent $700. I'm going to trade-in this potentially huge problem unless Ford does the right thing and fixes it.

1997 F150 5.4L, been good so far, but blew #3 plug and I could even forgive that if you could get to it to fix it with a helicoil, but, the engine compt is so tight, you can not get to the repair without taking off the head. It blew at 120K, going 15 mph down my street on my way home from work. There are no more Fords in my - or anyone I can tell about this problems future. Every mechanic I've talked to has said the same thing....bad design. And Ford knows it.

Found this website after learning that my 2001 F150 5.4L with 86k miles just blew a spark plug. The dealer out here in California just quoted me $4200 to replace heads or $5500 to replace engine. Nice..... Looks like I'll be contacting attorney Donald Ricketts regarding the class action lawsuit!

I have a 1997 used Ford Expedition which blew out a spark plug as I was moving household items from our rental to our new house. My wife and I haven't even closed on the house yet and now this crap happens. I hope that Ford wakes up and takes onwnership of this problem because I will never buy another Ford ever again. I will simply stick to purchasing Dodge, Chevrolet, or older hotrods.

I just want to thank all of you for your postings, cause if not for all of your bad luck I would hav had my plugs blow as well. As I was searching for my problem I came across yours. What really has me upset is I brought my 1999 E-350 with the V-10 into a Ford dealer and they said the vehicle had no problem, when I could feel such a reduction in power and heard what sounded like a valve tap. I though maybe the porcelin seperated from the plug housing. I've changed the plugs and indeed found a loose plug. By the way it was a factory plug.
