Ford didn't take government money because they are living on the $26 BILLION they borrowed in 2006 when they were very much in trouble. Their vehicles were not selling and they were losing market share. Now they are in debt above their heads. They have to start paying that money back plus interest soon. Total pay back around $36 BILLION. Ford didn't know what was coming. They just got lucky and now the idiots out there that think Ford is the darling of Detroit think they are the smartest one. Not even the Japanese knew what was coming. People, when they smarten up, will stop rushing to Ford one of these days and Ford will be in trouble again and will go to Washington to beg for money. It's coming.

1 You must be on glue. In my job, I rent a fair amount of cars. Recently I rented a 2009 Ford Fusion in McAllen, TX. What a hunk of junk. It almost left me stranded in the parking lot of a Walgreens because it refused to start. After about two minutes of grinding, it finally started, and I was on my way. I have also rented some of every brand that can be rented, and I am here to tell you, Chrysler's quality is just as good as everyone else's if not better. I own a 2003 300M as a daily driver. My 300 is light years ahead of the Fusion in terms of quality. Period. End of story. Case closed. While I was driving the Fusion it became apparent that Ford is selling this car on the gauge package alone. Very slick. The rest of the car is just so-so. |

I agree that praising Ford is ridiculous. The only reason they are doing the best out of the 3 right now is because they got lucky. Because of the financial trouble they were in, they were better prepared. Ford was in trouble YEARS before GM... and an eternity before Chrysler. Ford's financial troubles have been public since 2002. So they got lucky, becuause they just happened to be cutting costs and slimming down operations when the economy began to take a turn. GM didn't see any need to, because they were not having the same problems. Look at GM's product line- it's so much better, and there's more in the pipeline. Ford does not have one impressive model, the only car worth any praise is the Fusion. However, I forsee GM bouncing back much more quickly than Ford, now that their lineup has been tooled for maximum profitability. Not so sure about Chrysler though. The Germans may have ruined any chances of a quick turn around.
