I lost my only set of keys and need to get the key code to have a new one made. I tried doing it using the VIN number but was told because it is a 1997 they can't get it. Can anyone help me!

I'm right there with you, I've got a 1998 taurus. the dealership and the locksmiths are telling me I need to have my entire ignition system replaced at a cost of nearly $600-$700 after parts and labor, not mention the cos to get the car towed to the dealership. ARGHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried AAA. On my 1995 Taurus the same key opens the doors and the locksmith can duplicate the door key. My does not have any chip in it.
